This was such a subtle and sensitive film, a seductive study of relationship dynamics. You don't see the turns coming. Fabulous performances, gorgeous direction. Really the best of what indie filmmaking can be. Highly recommend it!!!
This film was surprising, kind of exactly what I needed right now. I want to be productive and efficient but need time to me, to read or lounge in front of the tv. Tomorrow is another day.
This was not what I expected: a funny, current story that works a bit like a mystery or thriller but really is candid conversation about mental health. It is even beautiful shot and presented, which I appreciate.
Would def recommend. Not too long or short, and strong performances.
Compelling story from start to finish. Challenging material to handle delicately, but they did a good job with the tough subject matter. I cared about the characters and was engrossed the whole time.
I loved this film!! The characters are so engaging and beautifully written and acted. The story draws you in and you try to understand the mystery of what happened. Obviously won't write any spoilers, but the end is brilliant. The film keeps you engaged and really makes you think.

Very moving and deep movie. I enjoyed it as it depicts life hardships in a realistic even if sometimes oniric way that doesn't feel hollow.

This is not your average love story. Starting with, one of the members of this intriguing love triangle is dead. It's a combination drama and mystery story that grows more intriguing as it unfolds. And it's a very well made film. The cast is excellent. You will recognize many of the actors. The director has an eye for talent, and she directs her intelligent cast with a sure hand. And you will absolutely believe the reality of the story. The depictions of AA, addiction, bipolar disorder, etc. Are all handled well. It's a complex, interesting film that doesn't settle for easy answers. I heartily recommend it.

This is a film you'll remember. The story is mainly told through two timelines focusing on Doug and Inez, and Inez's sister, Kira. Inez and Kira are as Inez puts it, "Blueish" (Black and Jewish). They both fall in love with Doug, but that's about as far as their similitude goes. It's Doug who serves as our (the audience's) conduit into the enigmatic persona that is Inez. (played brilliantly by Tawny Cypress) There's nothing lighthearted about the subject matter, but it's presented in such an intimate way through a well- executed (and twisting!) plot, that in wake of the film's tragedy there's an unexpected catharsis.
Such an impressive story-telling by a very talented director and a great cast. It's not a light fare, but it flows so effortlessly with such precision and purpose. I saw the movie twice and it stayed with me. Bravo.

This film looks more like a theatrical play rather than cinema. Which makes it even more interesting: this certainly is not a mediocre Hollywood-made nonsense. This film is a very touching, solid and well-done drama. Or actually, a tragedy.
Kudos to Julia and the cast!

I really enjoyed this movie. It's hard to cover such difficult territory and stay interesting and engaging, and there are even some nice moments of humor as well. Great acting too.
This is a heavy interpersonal drama, told like an unraveling mystery. Dark subject matter, but artfully and delicately executed. It requires you to pay attention, or else you'll miss a clue. It really makes you think. The performances are sublime. Doug is played by Michael Chernus, who's in Severance, Easy, etc. Tawny Cypress (Inez) is lead on Yellowjackets. Talia Thisfield (Kira) plays supporting on lots of shows too. All three give powerhouse performances and the supporting cast too. I also really liked the soundtrack; I've been following this German composer (Lambert) for a while now. Highly recommend.

I really like this movie. It is not for everyone, but if it is for you, then it sounds in unison in your heart.

I was deeply pulled into this story from the stupendous acting performances, perfect casting, life-like writing, beautiful cinematography, great editing and emotional score. The character and relationship development and acting was so strong that I cared about the characters and could feel what they felt. As a result I had to see how the story of these 3 unfolded and was invested from beginning to end. It was well worth the investment. Inez & Doug & Kira is a truly great film that I highly recommend to anyone interested in a moving psychological drama. This one will stay with you after you watch it.

This is an emotionally moving and satisfying film about characters dealing with love, grief, and the bonds between sisters and spouses. The three lead performances are strong especially Tawny Cypress and Talia Thiesfield as sisters with an intimate bond that feels realistic and deeply-experienced. These are intelligent characters who have to process their shared history with each other. This makes their actions, and story, feel all the more touching and poignant. The filmmaking is likewise strong and doesn't distract from the emotional core of the story. Especially beautiful is the subtle score and the softly-lit cinematography. The setting of this film is intimate but the emotional scale is universal.

"Inez & Doug & Kira" in some ways is a modern-day version of "Jules and Jim", except here it's two women and one man, with the difficult subjects of alcoholism and bipolar mental illness at the forefront. It's a story that stays with you, told via two timelines focusing on Doug and Inez, and Inez's sister, Kira. They both fall in love with Doug. Inez is an enigma and a mystery, a character we see via the others she comes into contact with (brilliantly portrayed by actress Tawny Cypress). The movie does not pull any punches and this is difficult subject matter, but it's presented in such an honest and intimate way that I found myself admiring its journey. Beautiful cinematography throughout, and a triumph for indie filmmaking.

There are some films that I need to watch more than once, many movies I screen several times. This story is powerful and sometimes raw. The acting is top notch (one of the reason I watched it twice.) "Inez & Doug & KIra" has the feel of a foreign film -- it is not a slick Hollywood production, but something that you would see in an "art house". It is one of those film that stays with you after the credits have stopped rolling; one that you feel the need to dicuss with other people. Although, I hadn't heard of the actors before, they all delivered strong performnaces and this movie showcases their talents.
