Watched this TV movie on Netflix. My expectations weren't high but it was pretty well written and the lead actress Caitlin Stasey is to say the least beguiling. A good little film.

I'm not sure if it was the format of this film, or the lack of substance. It reeked of a cheap old straight to television film. I struggled to make the distance on this one, but held in hoping it would get better, but it failed to deliver on so many ways. Don't get me wrong, the acting was quite good, but I feel it could have been made so much better.
It would have been good if there had been some back ground on the young woman involved to be able to see what lead her up to having the problems she was having with addiction.
I will not be recommending this one to friends.

I don't understand the 5.5 stars, this was a compelling story about the realities of why people make the choices they do. People are very judgemental of her lifestyle but so was she. Always remember, people are doing the best they can.

This is only drama, meaning no other genre mixed in here. Nothing special or interesting about movie. It is about one way of dying, where even our death may be ignored so much. It talks about bad emotions, bad relationships, bad thoughts, bad lifestyle. Something negative can overpower us just like in real life. Lesson is to take care of our well-being, in form of finding or fighting for balance, happiness, meaning, health, relationships, and all other aspects of life. There is nothing special, not much to see. Mystery is uncovered only for us at ending, but it is not so mysterious generally (in real life). I think that drama without other genre or at least some extremes is never gonna be a good drama.

I love Caitlin but I don't think the movie is giving justice to the actual Julia Law. The was it's being director is similar to desperate housewife, where we hear Julia's voice talking about her death. Shame!

First let me start by saying it's a great movie. The bad reviews are very undeserving. I think that those who didn't like the movie were expecting a different kind of movie so let me set you expectations right. This is not a big budget Hollywood movie. It's a movie based on a true story about a young woman who was found dead three days before her 27th birthday. The movie is told by the woman herself. She is telling the viewers about the events leading up to her death. The big thing you need to know here is this: even though you spend the entire movie wondering who killed her, this is not your typical whodunnit kind of a movie. It's not about catching the killer, it's about the woman and the people around here. It's about human behavior. It's basically a sort of a cautionary tale. Watch this movie with an open mind and chances are you gonna love it. I know I did.

Acting was good
That's it!
The characters didn't behave as I believe people do when they've been drug raped or have a friend who has.
It made no sense.
No sure why this movie was made tbh.
Felt upset when it had finished; the subject matter wasn't handled very well imo.

This should never have been a movie! The fact that it was a true story enticed me into watching but usually when you watch a true story turned into a movie, the story is compelling - sadly this was not the case with this movie!

Omg I dated a guy like her !
I thought her acting was quite good actually but The film could of been so much better.
Constantly cheating always drama in her & his life that she brought on herself . She is a typical Borderline cluster B personality. Demanding needing , validation, drop everything I need you . Her addiction with alcohol & men to fill that void in her life while destroying others marriage & people.

Watching the movie evoked memories of the song Runaway Train by Soul Asylum, "runaway train never coming back, wrong way on a one way track". If what the movie depicted is true, she was probably set on the wrong path when her dad left her and whatever else came after that in her childhood.
It would be easy to label Julia a drama queen, an addict etc. But that would be underestimating the impact of trauma. Most people struggling with addiction are trying to escape from trauma and self-hatred. She was also addicted to older emotionally unavailable men, i.e. Men like her dad. It is called repetition compulsion and it is entirely unconscious.
In spite of her efforts at cleaning herself up, she could not find the one thing she really craved - a man who would always be there for her and love her unconditionally, the substitute for her dad. I do not hate the story because it is an important story of parents messing up their kids. But I hate the storytelling; having Julia talk about her own death is weird. Moral of the story, unless you are prepared to love your children, do not become a parent.

I just did not care as how she died or why, she was not a nice woman and the storyline, acting and pace of this movie was awful... could have been a 20 minute mini episode ! Dragged out to 90minutes was very painful!
Lastly Botox is not your friend! Stop using it 'actors' performance by all was more wooden than a log fire!

If there was anything less than one star, I would've given it to this movie. What started off as promising ended up boring and really annoying. It was so cliché, and the characters were largely caricatures. I know it said it was based on true events, but I had to suspend belief through the whole thing. The main character was not in the least sympathetic - she was coming up to her 27th birthday but acted far more like she was coming up to her 17th. And that's not being kind to 16-year-olds. I'm not sure who the audience was for this movie, but it sure wasn't me.

This movie is the softcore version of The nymphomaniac movie
The girl is dating all married guys, She is not just a negative person but also put great negative vibe to other characters by her behaviour. She thinks she is alcoholic but actually she is a nymphomaniac and also interested in cheaters.

The actress who plays Julia was extra ordinary. She had one of the best performance. However Jason Patrick lost all his charisma by Botox.
