As a Scottish man, I had high hopes for this serious when I came across it. Unfortunately I need to say, I'm bitterly disappointed on all aspects of the series. Not a recommendation I'll be making to anyone. I don't see it portraying any sort of "real life" for a young Scottish man. I understand there may not have been a lot of funding for the project but it's not something I'll be watching again. Hopefully if there is a second series, it will be higher quality than this one. Each go there own of course but there is other Scottish gems that blow this one out of the water. On a positive note a few of the characters were pretty funny, hats off to Paul, he saved the show for me personally.
After episode one, I had to watch it right through. The characters had their own individual spark about them which was fluent throughout the whole series. I enjoyed watching Steve and George's relationship blossom ... chasing your dream is what it's all about! Paul was a very likeable character, the type you'd take home to your granny and have a cup o' tea wae! Over all great storyline, simple but effective and relatable. The characters are what drew me in, if you want a good story, you need good actors to tell it, and they did just that!

At long last, a Scottish TV show that doesn't live off jokes about neds. Something like this has been needed for a while now, showing Glasgow and Scotland in a good light. Loved some of the shots of Glasgow in this as well, place looked magic on screen.
Came across this after seeing the hype on Facebook. Initially thought it would be a cringey student production, but glad to say I was miles off. Quality wee series and hoping for a Series 2 now.

Came across this on Instagram of all places, eventually watched the first episode & ended up binging the whole series. Thought it was a good length with funny moments throughout thanks to the different personalities of characters. Highlights defo include the War film bit & the speech down the Clyde. Easy watching and smart way of showing what a struggling actors life can be like. Very well done for an indie.

Finally a comedy show that represents Scottish folk as actual people!! Really enjoyed this wee series, chock full of heart, humour and genuine moments. Not without its flaws but very entertaining and shows the city of Glasgow in such a lovely way. Some of the shots are actually stunning! Hoping for another series. Congrats.

Story of two unsuccessful Scottish actors, that completely charmed and won me over. A relatively slow paced start which looking back, I can appreciate because the show picks up pace nicely as the story arc continues. Episode three is an absolute juggernaut, one of my favourite episodes of recent sitcoms. Each of the main cast were exceptional and the relationships between them all were very believable, special mention goes out to Kenny too. Seriously hoping for another series!!!

I sincerely enjoyed this from start to finish, really good length of series. Each episode was not only a triumph of independent filmmaking but the story through them was engaging, entertaining and heartwarming. Each of the main characters are cast fantastically, they definitely must be friends in real life because the chemistry is obvious. There are some really important topics touched upon throughout but the show does not take itself too seriously as demonstrated in episode 3. The acting is natural from each performer adding to the sense of reality but heightening the funny situations, Pippa Perkin's scenes being the highlights for me! I love Scottish entertainment shows and this is an honest, fun, delight. Very much looking forward to season 2 and hoping two characters in particular figure things out. Solid 8/10, well done!

I came to watch this series with absolutely zero expectations, the "shoestring budget story" peaked my interest and I thought I'd give the first episode a go. In all honesty, shocked to say that by episode three I was absolutely drawn in and a fully paid up member of the weegies club.
The subtle humour is right up my street, with the situations these "actors" get themselves into being outlandish but strangely, very relatable. The main cast were great together and seemed like life long pals, with the dialogue being natural and fun. The love storyline throughout was also a nice touch and definitely had me rooting for Lucy and Steve.
If this is what they do on a shoestring then please, give them more money!!

Was honestly blown away by this series. Can't quite believe what they've actually achieved with an 'indy'. Foundation for a really great comedy show here, each character well defined with nice moments throughout.

Admittedly I may have been living under a rock for some time but recently had the good fortune of reading up on this project in the national news. First of all the narrative of this project is fantastic and finally shows what can be achieved independently, albeit with time constraints being very apparent. To take a filmic project from conception to completion is nothing short of incredible and the level that this series has been delivered to is, in my view, astonishing. It is one of the best independent projects I have seen, by a country mile.
Discovering the budget this project was delivered on is mind boggling. As someone who worked in performing arts for decades, I can confidently say that this budget would barely cover a mainstream programme for one week.
The characters are defined, quirky and loveable, the situations hilarious and the story arc, despite digressions, totally sucked me in and left me wanting to know what happened. (No spoilers here). It's shot fantastically well and you would be forgiven in thinking some of the scenes were done professionally. Any negative attention here is just a testament to the quality of the series as it's clearly being held to the same standards as mainstream entertainment is. I came to watch this project with no knowledge or preconceptions of it but I am certainly enjoying working my way back and finding out more.
Keep going and forging the way for independents because the talent and creativity of this team can only bring more success.
Please watch this and look out for the Sapphire spin-off. (Hopefully).

Loved this wee treat of a series. Great length so can be binged in two and a half hours, eclectic mix of characters and shot fantastically with lovely surprises throughout. Use of subtle humour is massive here but really leaves you rooting for the two main guys. Not without it's flaws but these almost make it more endearing, can see this show attaining cult following. Re-watched it now and desperate to know what happens to them, looking forward to another series.

The fact this series even exists is incredible, putting together a low budget short film is hard enough never mind a full series. Enjoyed every minute of this, production value was outstanding, main actors were great and the writing was smart, and quirky. All the ingredients for an amazing next series. I'll be tuning in and spreading the word.

I stumbled upon Weegies after a friend shared it on Twitter, and I was not disappointed. The show has numerous 'laugh out loud' moments and touches upon areas that young people - particularly from Scotland - can relate to. Whether that be the first day working in a call centre, scrambling to get the rent paid or even struggling to find work the series is able to hit home, without being patronising or condescending. The episodes are a good length and the production value seems well above it age. I binge watched it and would absolutely recommend anyone else to do the same.
Really enjoyed this season of Weegies. Loved the attitude of it, the self-deprecating humour and the range of great characters. Better than most things coming out these days. Look forward to season 2.

Loved Weegies! It has the elements of comedy necessary, while also creating a close world which gives insight into life in Glasgow. Charming characters and moments of profound reflection on the self consciousness of the individual and the greater 'working class' to seek out achievement. It discusses why and how there is a tension present in the endeavor to be something more than the average. This type of writing can be difficult to convey well, but I thought the actors achieved their message. There's a lot of heart in the writing and you can tell that the writers have deep understanding of this environment, and culture, while having the skill to discuss such topics with humor.

Watched all of these over one weekend, because I wasn't able to turn it off! Really liked seeing G-town on the telly. Hearing the Scottish dialect was something you don't see as often as you should and I liked that alot.
Think these two young fellas are really talented and clearly need to keep making good television based on life in Scotland. The only complaint I have about the show is I wish it were longer. Don't understand the pish reviews on here, clearly some little person who is jealous of the talent or robot reviews 🙄 Was trying to send the show to my sister in the US, any chance we can get it uploaded onto YouTube for an international audience?
Well done lads!
