As a brown man, it's satisfying to see a brown Conan like travel show.
That's where the similarities end though. Romesh is almost equally goofy but always in his Brit elements.
The show is on the slower side- as in there's nothing Big Bang happening, but is overall a fun watch,

He is at his best when with his mother, but always quality to watch on his own as he goes through his mistakes and mishaps.
An entertaining series that takes us across the world with a very middle class bloke in the guise of a working class dude, followed by a BBC crew he resents, obviously and he even makes the statement.
How many words do I have to write to submit this review? Succinct? Have you heard of the word, we are not all here to just do me me me you know! Artificial Intelligence will no doubt filter me out- you can try to stop The Terminator but he will keep coming for you.
You can run, but you can't hide!

Excellent show. Brilliant insights into the different countries. Makes me want to go to all of them. Romesh is great too. Gets the balance right between silly and serious. Great show!
This has been a brilliant watch, Romesh has made me laugh, feel saddened and enormously informed me on the most unexpected countries, a must watch programme, so much so I spent the whole weekend going back to series one and binge watching them all.
Romesh truly puts across his view in a respectful way as there are controversial accounts in these programmes, but hats off to him as the issues highlighted can be sensitive but he manages to inform us impartially and very well discussed
Thank you BBC2 and all that is involved in putting these travels together and I am looking forward to the next 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Season 2
Before I review series 2 I want to say Romesh is one of my favourite comedians. However, if I may be bold please stick to the comedy, we already have Simon Reeve we don't need a second.
Zimbabwe, this show got away from Romesh his guide was just determined to play the race card throughout and he let her. She displayed a firm opinion on the morality of Cecil Rhodes when she knew nothing about the man and committed the cardinal sin of viewing history through a 21 century liberal prism. This just ruined the show, sorry. I would add practically all we saw of Zimbabwe was nature we wanted to see something interesting.
Mongolia, Romesh really was hysterically funny and he really found his mojo in this show, his asides are what make his brand of humour and this was comedy gold. We were treated to so much detail of Mongolia it was a treat.
Bosnia, Romesh said all he knew about Bosnia was the war the last thing we wanted to see was a programme about the war, mention in passing yes but define the country no. Romesh posed the question can you engage with war as a tourist and yes of course you can we have all been to Berlin. I loved the wine tasting it turned this episode around.
Columbia, it was self evident Columbia had nothing, nothing to offer a tourist and perhaps Romesh should have chosen another destination, Bogota was nothing more than a corrugated concrete slum. Hazel was vacuous. The narco tourism was most interesting but the house we were shown was never finished and never lived in by Escobar. And I want to try the paint balling.

I've only seen episode three "Albania" and thought it rubbish! Romesh seemed to whine and whinge throughout. His appearance on the tv show was embarrassing ,no wonder they gave him some alcohol to liven his sorry arse up. Some of the content was interesting but I couldn't endure another episode with Romesh bagging the people who were showing him their country, with such pride and him being surly and ungrateful. Has no one told him to put his best foot forward when travelling to other countries and to be more gracious to the unfortunate people who helped him. On the plus side he was very chirpy and grateful to the multi millionaire who gave him a ride in a posh sports car and provided lunch on his penthouse terrace! As I said, "cringy to watch"! I'm done!
