HBO has joined the movement of providing users with a year-end overview of everything they watched in 2024, with the launch of the Spotify Wrapped-like campaign “Max Rewind.”
“Your 2024 Rewind is here,” the official Instagram page for Max posted on Thursday. “Open your Max app to see how you spent your year streaming.”
The campaign has been described as a “shareable and colorful lookback” at users’ “watch history and community trends throughout the year,” per reports. Max users with adult profiles will have access to their personal viewing information through in-app notifications from the streamer.
As Max reportedly details, “Each user will be assigned a character according to their watch history and will be given access to a curated collection page of recommendations for each Max character. Other elements that will be shared in the rewind include a subscriber’s top brand and genre, Max’s seasonal title highlights, their viewing pattern and top avatars.

However, fans were quick to notice one detail in the latest preview for the show’s penultimate episode.

It was announced during the preview that the series only had one episode left until the “season finale” of Yellowstone. Fans found it weird that it wasn’t mentioned as a series finale. Kevin Kreider might be a multi-hyphenate, but he considers his role in Hello, Love, Again, now the Philippines’ highest-grossing film in history, as his first proper acting gig.
As of December 2, the film has grossed a total of 1.4B Philippine pesos ($23.9M) at the global box office.
After his breakout appearance in Netflix reality series Bling Empire, as well as a role in feature film Asian Persuasion, which he also executive produced, Kreider has been busy running his own production outfit, Asian Lead Love Stories (Alls) Production, while also launching a 50-episode webtoon and helping others develop reality shows. Kreider has also been cast in an upcoming American sci-fi thriller feature, as well as a Filipino medical drama.
However, it’s the magic of the cinema that makes him see Hello, Love, Again differently to his other on screen work. “The reason why I consider this my first proper acting...

Upon release in 2019, the romantic drama “Hello, Love, Goodbye” was the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time. (It was surpassed by the time-traveling romance “Rewind” earlier this year.) Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, the film chronicles the struggles of overseas Filipino worker Joy (Kathryn Bernardo) who wishes to earn enough money as a domestic helper in Hong Kong so she can move to Canada for better employment opportunities. She eventually meets the cocky but sweet bartender Ethan (Alden Richards) whose growing affection for Joy puts an end to his wayward womanizing. The two bond over their respective familial woes and professional dreams as expats with fluid conceptions of “home.” Before Joy departs for Canada, they confess their love and promise to meet again.
The film’s sequel, also helmed by Garcia-Sampana, fulfills the promise that Joy and Ethan made to each other, but predictably not without its share of complications. Primarily...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is all set to bring back the true Call of Duty experience with its exciting multiplayer and zombies modes. In an official blog post, Activision has revealed 16 different multiplayer maps along with its brand new zombies map called Terminus Island. Indeed, these new maps are exciting but many diehard fans of the franchise were expecting to see one classic map from the Black Ops franchise: Raid.

With Black Ops 6, we get to see the return of the round-based mode on two new maps: Terminus and Liberty Falls. A third map was confirmed during CoD Next in August, which is certainly exciting but fans also want to see the return of TranZit from Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Updated to clarify that Little, Big, and Far is a hybrid fiction-nonfiction film. Exclusive: Grasshopper Film has acquired North American distribution rights to Little, Big, and Far ahead of its world premiere at the New York Film Festival.
The hybrid fiction-nonfiction film from award-winning director Jem Cohen will bow on Saturday evening as the Centerpiece selection of NYFF’s Currents section.
“Jem Cohen brings the same meditative elegance and intellectual curiosity he did to Museum Hours (2012) with his stargazing new feature, again using the cinematic form to patiently interrogate ways of seeing and being,” the festival writes in its program. “The principal subject of Cohen’s film is an Austrian astronomer named Karl who has been re-evaluating his work and life after turning 70, and who travels to a mountaintop on a Greek island in search of the darkest sky against which to view the cosmos. Yet the real matter of the singular Little,...

The countdown to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s official release has begun, and fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to dive headfirst into Treyarch’s latest offering after the four-year hiatus. With a staggering 16 maps available at launch, it’s clear that the developers are pulling out all the stops to deliver an unforgettable (and less repetitive) multiplayer experience.

Washington is a big state in the American games industry, so the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle has traditionally been a great convention for smaller games and niche releases. For every Nintendo or Capcom that’s drawing all the attention, there are traditionally 6 to 12 independent developers somewhere else in the venue who’re there to look for a publisher, show off a passion project, and/or make you wonder if you’ve gone insane.
For whatever reason, 2024 was a banner year for horror at Pax West. Every time I went back into the venue, I found another half-dozen games from all over the world, which ranged from escape room simulators to revivals of classic survival horror to tongue-in-cheek parodies. It was a great four days to be a fan of the genre.

After the disastrous critical failure of Modern Warfare 3 for the Call of Duty franchise, Treyarch has returned to redeem this IP with what may be one of the best installments in many years of mediocre to average entries.
Currently, the Black Ops 6 open multiplayer beta is live, and it seems that all the changes the studio has made to the game are paying off, with fans more than satisfied with the results. New features like omni-movement, weapon adjustments, new game modes, and other additions are exciting players.
Is Call of Duty Back? The new Black Ops 6 mechanics are on point.
Despite the promise from all the videos we’ve seen so far, which differ from Modern Warfare 3 last year, there was no guarantee Call of Duty would regain its previous quality.
Fortunately, the Black Ops 6 open beta and its multiplayer mode suggest that fans can confidently anticipate the return of greatness to this saga.

Scroll down to get your “streaming companion.” In my case, Sling suggests NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson. That makes sense, since he guides me through seven hours of commercial-free football every Sunday.

The 39th International Documentary Awards have announced their shortlists for the best nonfiction entries of the year, with a ceremony to take place during the week of Dec. 11 in Los Angeles in a venue to be named. The films were selected by independent committees comprised of 280 documentary makers, curators, critics, and industry experts from 40 countries. Last week, we shared the news that the 1985 creature feature Ghoulies (watch it Here) is getting a Blu-ray and 4K Uhd release, courtesy of Mvd Rewind Collection, on September 12th. Now we can confirm that Mvd Rewind Collection is also giving the 1988 sequel Ghoulies II (watch that one Here) a new Blu-ray and DVD release on that same date. When I was in high school, one of my first jobs was working at a big chain video store. While it was fun to be around movies and movie fans all day, it did have all the pitfalls of any public facing customer service job. Weird customers, understaffing, and repetitive work were all par for the course, but the worst part was the eerie feeling that would sometimes creep over you as you were closing. There’s something about the liminal time where the store is no longer open, but you’ve still got stuff to do before you leave. You feel strangely exposed when someone comes knocking on your door after hours, still feeling obligated to respond to them but without the protections of the social norms of an active public space. This is the feeling that Rewind or Die, the latest game published by Torture Star Video and developed by Comp-3 Interactive,...

Shout! Studios presents The Magic Flute by Florian Zigl, executive produced by Roland Emmerich, at 325 theaters with expansion likely. A reimagining of the Mozart opera, it follows a present-day teen sent from London to the Austrian Alps on singing scholarship at the legendary Mozart boarding school. There, he discovers a century old forgotten passageway into the magical world of Mozart’s famed opera.
This Harry Potter-ish adventure fantasy stars Jack Wolfe as Tim Walker, who passes from school into the world of the opera and its many adventures as hero Prince Tamino. Wide releases may be picking up steam and Scream, but in terms of new specialty, and family fare, these isn’t much new competition this weekend.
Melissa Boag, EVP of Family Entertainment at Shout! Studios, hopes it will play with fans of magical adventure, Harry Potter, and classical music. Wolfe is a star of Netflix YA series Shadow & Bone.

Publisher Torture Star Video is back again with another dirty little slasher with PS1-inspired graphics with Comp-3 Interactive’s Rewind or Die. Releasing April 14th on Steam, Rewind or Die turns the mundane job of video rental store clerk on its head with a serial killer lurking in the background.
Taking a cue from Scythe Dev Team’s Happy’s Humble Burger Farm, Rewind or Die is part job simulation, part Survival Horror. The story has you playing as Tony, who is covering for your co-worker after they skip out on their shift at Video 2 Go. That means you’ll be dealing with irate customers, horrible bosses and keeping the store clean. You’ll have to deal with the occasional creepy phone call, and as luck would have it, there just so happens to be a serial killer named Slaw lurking about who’s been staking their claim in the area.

The cringe-inducing rushes comprising the documentary portrait “Rewind and Play,” carefully stitched together from a decades-old French TV interview with American jazz pianist Thelonius Monk, are supposed to make your skin crawl with discomfort.
And it’s supposed to not fit inside the neat little pre-packaged format box for consumer-ready documentaries.
In his 65-minute film which forms part of the documentary slate at the 5th Joburg Film Festival, the 50-year-old French-Senegalese filmmaker Alain Gomis simultaneously does an exposition of Monk’s jazz genius while exposing a Paris media’s stereotyped coaxing of what it wanted – what it needed – a black interview subject to be and say in 1969.
For Gomis’ first foray into the documentary genre, he uses unseen outtakes to craft a celluloid mosaic carefully culled from the rolls of takes and retakes for a TV program that never aired.
The silence is often deafening as interviewer Henri Renaud unsuccessfully...

In the latest in his series of Rewind reviews looking back at the career of writer/director Ben Wheatley, Chris takes a look at his 2017 film, Free Fire.
Stars: Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Michael Smiley, Sam Riley, Jack Reynor | Written by Ben Wheatley, Amy Jump | Directed by Ben Wheatley
Ben Wheatley is one of my favourite directors working today. He combines an eye for natural, realistic social situations with an extraordinary ability to create not only straight up horror but also the texture of horror in the context of other genres. Whilst in previous Rewind columns I’ve gone back and re-watched Wheatley’s films Kill List and High Rise, with Free Fire I am watching the film for the very first time…

In the latest in his series of Rewind reviews looking back at the career of writer/director Ben Wheatley, Chris takes a look at his 2015 film, High Rise.
Stars: Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, James Purefoy, Keeley Hawes, Peter Ferdinando, Sienna Guillory, Reece Shearsmith | Written by Amy Jump | Directed by Bean Wheatley
Ben Wheatley films are rather good, so I have been re-watching them. The latest is High Rise, which is based on the 1975 novel by J.G Ballard. I was a big fan of the novel, and this is an excellent telling of a wonderfully chilling story. Dr Lang (Tom Hiddleston) is newly arrived at a new high-rise development (Canary Wharf… before Canary Wharf was a thing). Lang can put on whatever mask is required to fit into his circumstances. As he moves in, he is introduced to a love interest, Charlotte Melville (Sienna...
