Learn more- Iron Heart is a very special story, that travels between darkness and light: Mario, his art and his love are the protagonists of this documentary.
Mario Crocicchia born in 1933, lives his youth in a difficult and poor period. He lives in a small town, near Rome, where culture is absent, and his unique gifts clash with the village mentality. Since he was a child, he shows the extraordinary ability to draw anything: he tries the artist's way. The untimely death of his father and absolute poverty lead him to hide his dream. But how can one hide an incredible capacity? Simple, you can't. He tries to live a normal life, but art attracts him, so he invents a technique of cold iron sculpture, and he begins to create unique works in the world. He only realizes them for his family. Over the years he has made more than 300 works, without selling one.
Then comes the last work: thanks to the tiredness and the years (he has not 3 fingers, he does not see anymore and he is 85 years old) he has to close the doors of his magical world: his workshop. The last work, like the first one, is for his wife. But Mario has always been a child within himself, able to surprise and look at everything with amazement. He will finish his last work, giving him his magic touch: a piece of his heart. The remorse of a life based on his art has never touched him, he is happy. He always did everything for love: for his family, the most important thing.
With the help of the interviews, the difficult life of the artist and his sacrifices are told, parallel to the creation of the last work, to reach the final where everything seems to end, but which will leave the viewer still dreaming.
