David Roux comes from a family of doctors. His older brother is a pulmonologist in intensive care. To write the screenplay for The Order of Doctors(L'Ordre des médecins), the director followed him in his work for a few days: he put on a white blouse that allowed him to blend into the background, and accompanied him everywhere.
David Roux was born in 1977 in Paris. Theater journalist for fifteen years, he was also assistant director and literary manager in a film development company (Film Initiative), before approaching the writing and making of short films ((Their youth(Leur jeunesse) in 2012, Repetitions (Répétitions) in 2014 )). The College of Physicians(L'Ordre des médecins) is his first feature film.
The College of Physicians(L'Ordre des médecins) is directly inspired by the period when David Roux's mother was sick. Some very specific moments that the director has experienced were thus decisive in the genesis of the project. For example, when his mother was hospitalized in critical condition, her brother had to announce cancer to a patient of about the same age.
From the outset, David Roux's idea was to go behind the scenes in this gigantic, complex and voracious universe that is the hospital. Simon's character spends most of his time there, leaving little room for his private life.
The Order of Physicians(L'Ordre des médecins) is directly inspired by David Roux's brother. Moreover, if he had not validated the scenario, the director would have abandoned the project. But there are still many things he did not experience in the same way as Simon, the main character.
