Lynn Johnson died in May 2013, one year after the release of 56 Up (2012), the previous film in the series. She is the first participant in the series to die.
At the film's Telluride premiere, Michael Apted said he was comfortable with this being the swan song, then, perhaps sensing disappointment added, "Whether we make another one, if we're all above ground, it's all fluid."
