This is a Pomors folktale by Stepan Pisakhov which tells the story of how the villagers of the Arkhangelsk Governorate sell "eternal icebergs", which they use in place of boats (pulled through the sea by helpful polar bears).
A simple story with a really interesting cultural context, this animation provides a fascinating insight into the world of the Pomors people who live on the White Sea in far North Russia. The visual style matches the folktale nicely, as does the musical score.
A well realised short animation that is light, entertaining and insightful. Only a few minutes long, well worth seeing.
