Despite all the efforts to tell this story, there is a huge gap between male perspective when telling stories about women than women talking about themselves.
Yes we get the core of the idea, but the scenes where always underwhelming.
The biggest issue with this film is a technical one, the director is also an editor and the writer of the film, yet he failed to connect the main plot properly, the basic rules of writing a scenario tells you when in the movie run time you should put your main plot.
The main plot was the appearance of these letters, it was too late to connect this event with the timeline.
We don't care about style as much as the film maker was overwhelmed with his genre style and the film's directing school, he got lost trying to achieve visual and editing goals.
Basma were the best part of this movie, it's always lovely to see her on camera even if she is not doing anything, her performance was warm and kept me on track with the mood of the film.
The film is not as bad as my review looks, but egyptian indie cinema (not a mainstream or a box office movie at least) keeps doing the same mistakes over and over, It seem like your seeing the same movie every time and they are overwhelmed with each other movies.
Trying to achieve a poetic film or a progressive film or whatsoever the genre or the film school you want to pursue doesn't mean we as audience don't get a solid well connected movie.
