Erica Lipez's eight-part historical drama, "We Were the Lucky Ones," deals with a harrowing subject matter. These are turbulent times, as vicious anti-semitism is on the rise in Poland, and the Kurcs initially seem insulated from everyday racial politics due to their social stature. As the Kurcs gather around the family table, we are introduced to each member, including siblings Halina (Joey King) and Addy (Logan Lerman), who talk about their hopes and dreams paving the path for the future. The 25-year-old actress stepped out to attend the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on Friday (February 7) at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, Calif.

Joey is supporting her Hulu show We Were the Lucky Ones, which is up for the Best Limited Series award. Her co-star and close friend Logan Lerman also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.

Joey thankfully looks like she has recovered after recently suffering facial burns in a cooking accident at home. She took to Instagram in late January to share photos of the burns on her face.

We’re only looking at those that were either final seasoned or wrapped when they wanted to. They had the time to tell their full story—or at least, full enough to be able to bring fans closure. We’re not including those that were abruptly and unfairly canceled.

Television nominees for the 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards were announced on Thursday, and FX’s acclaimed drama Shōgun led the pack with six total nominations.

Shōgun was one of eight shows to earn a nod in the Best Drama Series category, while cast members Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Takehiro Hira and Moeka Hoshi all picked up nominations for their work, as well.

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced all the nominees for the TV categories for the 30th annual Critics Choice Awards happening on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles.

In the lead overall is the Emmy-winning FX series “Shōgun” with six nominations including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series for producer/star Hiroyuki Sanada, Best Actress in a Drama Series for Anna Sawai, and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series — a category it was left out of at the Emmys — for Moeka Hoshi.

Other series recognized with multiple nominations include “Abbott Elementary,” “Hacks,” “The Diplomat” and “What We Do in the Shadows,” which have all been recognized by the organization in previous years, as well as new series like “Disclaimer,” “The Penguin,” and “English Teacher.”

Nominations for the film categories will be announced on Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Hot off its record haul at the Emmys, FX/Hulu’s Shōgun leads the 30th Critics Choice Awards TV nominations with six, followed by a half-dozen other shows with four each: ABC’s Abbott Elementary, Apple TV+’s Disclaimer, HBO|Max’s Hacks and The Pengiun, Netflix’s The Diplomat and the final season of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows.

Eight other programs are next with three nominations apiece.

Netflix leads all networks and platforms with 23 Cca noms, followed by awards rival HBO|Max with 21. FX with 13 and Apple TV+ with 12 are the only others in double digits.

Nominations for the film categories will be revealed December 12, and the awards will be handed out Sunday, January 12, at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. E! will air the Critics Choice Awards live.

Elizabeth Olsen, Mindy Kaling, and Joey King were among the celebs sitting in the front row at the event on Monday night (September 9) at Skylight at the Refinery in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Episode 2 of Pachinko is quite the heartbreaking one. Netflix has released the trailer for the long-awaited Uglies movie adaptation.

Based on the book by Scott Westerfeld, Uglies stars Joey King as Tally Youngblood, Chase Stokes as Peris, Keith Powers as David, Brianne Tju as Shay and Laverne Cox as Dr. Cable.

Set in Westerfeld’s futuristic world, Uglies follows King’s Tally as she counts down the days until she can undergo a cosmetic procedure that all city-dwellers experience at the age of 16, transforming their faces and bodies into flawless model-like physiques. This is all Tally’s known her whole life, until a new friend of hers runs away and exposes Tally to a different way of living. Torn between Shay and her now beautified best friend Peris, who waits for her in the city after his surgery, Tally must choose between all she has ever known and a form of society that will challenge everything she believes.

Watch out Knives Out 3! Another Netflix murder mystery film, The Thursday Murder Club, is in the works from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and Netflix, based on a book by BBC game show host and British TV presenter Richard Osman.

The cast was stacked from the start, and production on the film was set to start in June of 2024. Osman confirmed the news of the film’s development on his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment in April 2024.
