Michael Gandolfini’s star rose sharply with his appearance in 2021 The Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark as a young Tony Soprano, the fictitious crime boss immortalized by his late father James Gandolfini.
The role saw him splashed across the culture and entertainment pages at home and worldwide, after a series of youthful, smaller parts including alongside Tom Holland in Cherry.
Gandolfini has since racked up credits on half a dozen features and series including Cat Person, Beau Is Afraid and Bob Marley: One World and is soon to be seen in Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza’s Iraqi War drama Warfare and upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, for which he is confirmed in season 2.
A serendipitous outcome of The Many Saints of Newark was his friendship with producer and actor Gabriella Piazza, who played Joanne Moltisanti in the show, who in turn introduced him to emerging director Blake Rice.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s infectious bond gave fans the time of their lives when the duo appeared during Deadpool & Wolverine promotions. Reynolds was already popular for his amazing sense of humor and that coupled with Jackman’s wittiness added fuel to the fire.

If you think the TV series version of "The Boys" crosses the line, wait until you read the original comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
Ennis writes about things he hates getting raked over the coals. "Preacher" is an enormous middle finger to organized religion, particularly Christian fundamentalists. When Ennis wrote "The Punisher Max," he had Frank kill Ira terrorists, human traffickers, and Enron executives. Tom Holland had tasted fame at an unprecedented level at a very early age. For the British star, Hollywood was his playground sandbox and movies were his medium of first expression. But with such an exposed world also comes its pitfalls which, in the case of Tinsel Town, often claim a very steep price.
In the years since his Marvel fame, Holland found the price was asking too much of his sanity, peace, and mental health. His function as a celebrity in modern society was getting increasingly demanding, from signing autographs and taking pictures to bearing the brunt of dissenting fans and tabloids who could not comprehend his need to log out of social media.

Tom Holland has achieved remarkable success in the industry that too at a very young age. What started as participating in musicals at the age of nine quickly escalated to him playing the iconic Spider-Man in six MCU movies. This role was iconic in so many ways and skyrocketed his career in the industry. But with a superhero role, it becomes a bit difficult for actors to break free from the perceived range.

“The Electric State” is alive.
The new sci-fi adventure, from Anthony and Joe Russo (the directors of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”), stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt — and you can get a first look at the wild, robot-filled world in the brand-new trailer out Thursday. Watch it below.
The movie, based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag (whose work also inspired the Prime Video series “Tales From the Loop”), takes place in an alternate 1990s that has survived a robot uprising that started when the animatronics developed by Walt Disney for Disneyland gained sentience. Now the robots live in exile.
Brown plays Michelle, an orphaned teenager living in this post-apocalyptic society, whose missing brother makes contact with her via a robot. She hires a smuggler named Keats (Pratt) to help get her across the wasteland and find her brother, all while discovering the mystery behind his disappearance.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been such a coveted hub of entertainment that it’s either the place where everyone is or everyone wants to be. The popularity of the franchise comes with its own perks, as you get access to unlimited resources, and people from every country that has an accessible film theater become familiar with your work. But it has its downsides because the franchise works like a conveyor belt and every project has a stupid deadline that stifles creativity. And since a lot of directors are in there, sometimes for very long periods of time, it’s interesting to see how the process of making a Marvel project has affected their vision and whether that change is palpable in their post-mcu career. Jon Favreau made the amazing Chef and then went right into the conveyor belt with Disney remakes and Star Wars’ Mandalorian IP. James Gunn made the fantastic The Suicide Squad.

Tom Holland may have started late as an actor when he made his film debut in 2012 with The Impossible, but he didn’t take long to launch to extraordinary heights of love and fame in fans’ hearts. While his tenure in the MCU as the fan-favorite Spider-Man was one to boost his career, the actor hasn’t hesitated to let his brilliance be known in other projects as well.

There are tons of animation studios in Japan, but few come close to Madhouse. Madhouse has been in the animation business since 1972 and completed five decades in the anime and manga industry. The studio has produced several big names like Hunter x Hunter (2011), Yu Yu Hakusho, Death Note, One Punch Man, etc.
But in 2009, the studio was left in a sorry state after producing one of the flop anime movies of the year. The movie was called Redline, and it caused the studio to lose millions of dollars. Currently, in 2024, Redline has become one of the cult-classic anime movies even after miserably failing at the Japanese box office.

In It Ends With Us, the actress, 36, dives into a sea of shadows, portraying Lily Bloom, a woman with a troubled past who relocates to Boston and encounters Ryle Kincaid, played by Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni. Note that the latter also wears the director’s hat.

It was in 2017 when Lana Del Ray released the iconic song, Cherry. Talking about the pains of love and questioning if this is what love feels like, Cherry had heavy vocals and equally intense music to fit the narrative perfectly.

The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us follows Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) as she meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) in passing and then reconnects with him after she opens her flower shop. A complex love triangle arises as Ryle and Lily begin dating, but then Lily runs into old flame Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) at his restaurant Root, and memories of her childhood come flooding back.
Ryle also has a dark side that reminds Lily of her parents’ relationship, with her father (Kevin McKidd) abusing her mother. It all builds to a challenging choice that Lily has to make to break the cycle or let it break her.
Taylor Swift’s “My Tears Ricochet” made it into the trailer for the film, and many other songs by women singers and songwriters like Lana Del Ray, Brittany Howard and Birdy back the strong story. Of course,...

This article contains spoilers for "Deadpool & Wolverine."
Shawn Levy's "Deadpool & Wolverine," like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" before it, exists to show off a certain degree of corporate synergy. While "No Way Home" flaunted that Disney was able to wrangle multiple character from Sony-owned Spider-Man pictures, "Deadpool" shows off its ownership of multiple superhero characters once overseen by 20th Century Fox. The film is a parade of cameos, each one meant to elicit cheers from an eager audience of fans, presuming they are familiar with years of studio insider baseball. Curiously, the film assumes audiences have warm fuzzy feelings about movies once mocked as the worst the genre had to offer. Who knew audiences in 2024 would feel wistful about "Elektra?"
Here on /Film, we have spilled gallons of ink unpacking the film's many, many cameos, which include characters from Fox's many "X-Men" films, a character from "Fantastic Four,...

“Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has been retitled with a full-tilt pivot. The next Avengers films will be “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” and they will both be directed by the Russo Brothers.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are uniting with Marvel Studios once again to helm the next superhero team-up feature. On Saturday evening, they made their return official by taking the stage at San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H to thunderous applause.
“When we directed ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ we really believed it was the end for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” said Joe Russo to the crowd. “That four-movie run was incredible, and it left us creatively spent.” However, in the time since, the duo found a “very special story” that convinced them to come back. In fact, “it’s the biggest story that Marvel comics ever told. It’s the reason that Anthony and I are standing up here.

“Joe and Anthony Russo will return.”
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Marvel is now in talks to bring Joe and Anthony Russo back as directors of Avengers 5 and 6. The Russos helmed some of the franchise’s biggest hits, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the discussions are still in early phases, but they seem to be on their way.
Given the success of those films, and the difficulty that MCU head Kevin Fiege has had finding someone to helm the next Avengers movies, having gone through Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘s Destin Daniel Cretton and Shawn Levy of Deadpool & Wolverine, the Russos’ return seems like a no brainer. After all, they’re a very safe pair of hands when it comes to these sorts of massive, franchise-defining blockbusters. However, there is also risk here. Feige might do well to...

The numbers don’t lie. When Joe and Anthony Russo are at the helm of an “Avengers” movie, it means money in the bank. Their “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” remain the sixth and second highest-grossing motion pictures of all time. Sure, there are a lot of mitigating factors in there—like how those two titles were the culmination of an interconnected series of storylines with cast members that audiences grew with for a decade—but considering how Marvel has had a tremendous amount of trouble getting their next “Avengers” project off the ground, bringing these two fellas back into the fold seems like the smart thing to do.
As such, Variety has reported that they are likely to sign on to direct what was originally called “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” slated for 2026, and “Avengers: Secret Wars” for 2027. The “Kang” project was going to be focused on Jonathan Majors...

Marvel’s lengthy search for the directors of its next two “Avengers” movies might have finally reached its endgame.
The Hollywood Reporter and Variety say that Joe and Anthony Russo have entered talks with the studio to direct the next two films in the franchise. Marvel had previously announced that the studio’s Phase 6 slate of films would end with the movies “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” in 2026 and “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027. The former film was supposed to focus on Jonathan Majors’ villainous character Kang the Conqueror, who appeared in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and five episodes of “Loki” and was being positioned as the primary antagonist in subsequent story arcs. Marvel parted ways with Majors following the guilty verdict in his assault and harassment trial in December 2023, but has yet to comment on whether the role will be recast or if the next “Avengers” film will still be titled “The Kang Dynasty.

Joe and Anthony Russo, who propelled “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame” to stratospheric box office heights, may return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The filmmaking brothers are in early talks to direct 2026’s “Avengers” movie (formerly titled “The Kang Dynasty”) and 2027’s “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which will conclude the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. The films will presumably be connected, à la the two-part story of 2018’s “Infinity War” and 2019’s “Endgame.”
A spokesperson for Agbo, the Russos’ production company, declined to comment.

The hiring ends a months-long, high-stakes search by the studio for filmmakers to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies. Multiple names were in contention, including Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, who was offered the gig. Sources say the talks are in the early stages.
The move also marks a homecoming for the Russos, who jumped from the world of TV comedy on shows like Arrested Development and Community to blockbuster movies a decade ago, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014). After delivering impressive performances in movies like The Impossible and In the Heart of the Sea, Tom Holland hit the big time when he was cast as Peter Parker in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.
He'd go on to star in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, becoming an MCU veteran in just five years. However, outside of his Marvel Studios work, Holland has struggled.

Agbo, the Russo Brothers’ media company, has launched an innovation department, expanding its physical and virtual production capabilities under the guidance of a seasoned executive team.
Under the new setup, Agbo’s technology experts will build proprietary creative tools, with the aim of fostering production innovation and cost efficiencies. The idea is for Agbo and its creative partners to be able to access the company’s emerging set of tools at every stage of development, production, and post-production.
Innovation will have three verticals: production technology, immersive technology and creative. It will be led by Jake Aust, who was recently promoted to Agbo’s Chief Innovation Officer. Over a 20-year career, Aust has been a producer on The Office and Russo-affiliated titles like TV’s Community and feature film Cherry. He was also an executive producer on The Gray Man and most recently served as Agbo’s President of Physical Production.
