TrustNordisk has boarded international sales rights to the drama Dogborn, the debut feature of Swedish writer/director Isabella Carbonell.

Dogborn will have its world premiere at Venice Critics’ Week.

The story is about a refugee brother and sister living in Sweden; they are homeless and invisible and dream of a better future. A rift occurs between them when they get caught up in the underworld of human trafficking.

The deal includes: “Nutopia’s A World of Calm,” which combines mesmeric imagery with narration by A-list stars Mahershala Ali, Nicole Kidman and Zoë Kravitz; 72 Films’ feature-length “Diana,” a portrait of the late princess Diana; and Studio Ramsay’s two-part special “Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine”; Brook Lapping Productions’ “The Hunt for Gaddafi’s Billions”; and globally resonant documentary “The Anti-Vax Conspiracy” from award winning producers, Caravan and Quicksilver Media.

Endeavor Content has invested an undisclosed amount in Nordic Drama Queens, the new Scandinavian production company launched by Josefine Tengblad, Sandra Harms and Line Winther Skyum Funch.

The Stockholm- and Copenhagen-based company launches this autumn with a focus on developing premium drama from established and emerging voices from the Nordic region and around the world.

The three founders have served in various capacities in the region’s entertainment sector.

Tengblad was formerly head of drama at TV4/CMore and previously served as an independent producer. Her credits include Blinded, Top Dog and Agatha Christie’s Hjerson.

The Golden Trailer Awards, which honor the best trailers in movie and TV/streaming marketing, awarded Paramount’s A Quiet Place: Part II its marquee Best of Show honor Thursday night during a ceremony in Greenville, Tn.

Swedish documentary specialist Momento Film, the company behind “Tiny Tim: King for a Day” and Cph:Forum work in progress “Stories from the Debris,” is ramping up its narrative feature film output.

A decade after he founded his outfit, helmer/producer David Herdies has propelled Momento Film among Sweden’s top creators of cutting-edge documentaries and shorts. Award-winning pics to his credit include “Ouaga Girls” (2017), “Hamada” (2018), “Transnistra” (2019), and most recently Johan von Sydow’s docu biopic “Tiny Tim: King for a Day,” currently touring the U.S., courtesy of Juno Films. Herdies also produced and co-helmed with George Götmark the buzzed about Visions du Réel competition entry “Bellum: The Daemon of War,” and is spotlighting Jennifer Rainsford’s works in progress documentary “Stories from the Debris” at this week’s Cph:forum, industry sidebar to Denmark’s Cph:dox fest.

Sf Studios is teaming up with “Easy Money” screenwriter Maria Karlsson on “The Stockholm Bloodbath,” an epic film

inspired by the true story of Kristina Gyllenstierna, a fearless woman who fought to protect Stockholm when the Danes invaded the city in 1520.

“The Stockholm Bloodbath” refers to a lesser-known, dark chapter in Scandinavian history when the three-day coronation ceremony for the Danish king Christian II became one of Sweden’s most violent power struggles. During this turmoil, the Danish king ordered the execution of many figures of the Swedish nobility.

Currently at script stage, “The Stockholm Bloodbath” will mark yet another big-budget, internationally-driven epic film on Sf Studios’s production and distribution slate. The South Asian Talent Incubator 1497 has unveiled its mentees for its inaugural writers lab focused on South Asian screenwriters.

1497 chiseled down 382 submissions to 11 finalists before working with a selection committee of 11 established writers and producers to choose the mentees for the organization’s first-ever writers lab. At first, only three mentees and projects were going to be selected, but there was just so much talent they made room for a fourth.

“We are thrilled to support such a dynamic group, all with wonderful projects in hand,” said 1497 Co-Founders in a joint statement. “Ware excited not only to see these projects further develop, but to help launch the careers of these talented filmmakers, whose voices are deeply important and relevant.”

Lagardere Studios Distribution has boarded “The Machinery,” an action-packed thriller series headlined by Kristoffer Joner (“The Revenant”), which was teased by Viaplay during a presentation at Goteborg’s TV Drama Vision conference on Thursday.

Set at the border between Sweden and Norway, the show follows Olle Hultén, an ordinary dad who wakes up on a ferry at the border of Strömstad and Sandefjord after a late night in possession of a bag full of cash, a gun and a robbery mask. Hunted by the police, he sets off on a journey to prove his innocence.

The show will premiere on Viaplay, the streaming service operated by Nent Group. Headed by industry veteran Emmanuelle Bouilhaguet, Lagardere Studios Distribution is set to represent “The Machinery” in international markets.
