Actress Hemani Chawla has opened up on working with Amole Gupte and Namashi Chakraborty, in the short film ‘Bahar Aa Chaman Prakash’, calling it a brilliant experience.
Known for her work in ‘Dabangii – Mulgii Aayi Re Aayi’, Hemani talked about what prompted her to come on board.
She said: “The title itself was so interesting and exciting that when I heard it, I instantly understood this is an important film made on a sensitive subject. Most importantly, it has Amole sir and Namashi in it, that’s the biggest draw. No sensible actor will deny this project.”

Holi Box Office: From Akshay Kumar To Ajay Devgn Report Card & Stats Of Holi Releases. ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Holi has been a time that has not been very favorable at the box office. While there have been superstar releases on the festival, the box office figures and stats have never painted a decent picture. In fact, stalwarts like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn have also delivered disasters during the Holi weekend.
However, this year might be a little different since Ajay Devgn‘s Shaitaan is still working well at the box office and is expected to churn out great numbers in the extended Holi weekend.
On the other hand, Kunal Kemmu’s Madgaon Express is also working fairly, and Randeep Hooda’s Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is picking up pace over the holidays. However, in the last 13 years, Holi has not been a celebratory event at the box office for Bollywood films.

Popular Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra has two projects based on real-life stories in the works.
“Chamkila” is a biopic on Punjabi singer-songwriter pop star duo Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur, who shot to fame in the 1980s recording and performing songs that were social commentaries or devotionals, and which became massive hits. The duo was gunned down in Mehsampur village, Punjab, in 1988. Their assassination remains an unsolved mystery and was the subject of Kabir Singh Chowdhry’s 2018 mockumentary “Mehsampur.”
“Chamkila,” produced by Reliance Entertainment, is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, known for “Jab We Met” (2007), “Love Aaj Kal” (2009), “Rockstar” (2011) and “Highway” (2014). Pop star and actor Diljit Dosjanh (Netflix original film “Jogi”) plays Chamkila while Chopra plays Kaur.
“Diljit and I are going to be singing throughout the film. We’re doing like 12-15 songs because it’s a film on music. We’re doing live recordings on set.

Women-centric filmsWith the pandemic accelerating the growth of Ott in the past year, several women-centric films and movies with well-rounded female characters have come to the fore.Saradha UScreengrab/Amazon Prime VideoFor long, female characters in mainstream Indian cinema have been pushed to the side-lines. More often than not, the sole purpose of the female lead in romantic entertainers and action dramas was to support the male lead and help him accomplish his dreams. Among the host of reasons cited for women stars not taking centre stage was that they do not have the same kind of box-office openings as their male counterparts. Over-the-top (Ott) platforms are credited with changing this by creating a level-playing field for all actors. With the coronavirus pandemic accelerating the growth of streaming platforms, numerous women-centric projects have released on major Ott platforms like Disney Plus Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Sony Liv and Zee 5 in the past year.

Parineeti Chopra said playing badminton champion Saina Nehwal in the biopic "Saina" became a somewhat easy job because the film's director Amole Gupte is an effortless actor, too.
"I think Amole sir is an extremely effortless actor and during the shooting of Saina, I learnt so much of minimalism in performance. He really taught me how less is more in acting, how just by staying silent, little movements of eyes can depict how an individual is screaming from inside," Parineeti informed.
"Since Amole sir loves children and has worked with them closely, I think he just knows how to extract a performance from an actor. Being a director who is an actor too, there were times he would perform a scene to explain. He could act a very intense scene slowly with a layered performance and it just left me wondering when did the acting start! I really learn the...

Saina
Starring Parineeti Chopra, Meghna Malik, Eshan Naqvi,Pavan Kaul
Directed by Amole Gupte
Thank God for true heroes. And for a film about a true hero like Saina Nehwal rather than some scumbag gangster whose life-story should be thrown into the nearest gutter. Saina is a picture-perfect biopic. Inspiring and engaging, it makes all the right noises (and that includes some wonderfully worded motivational songs in the background) and shuffles its confident feet in the comforting domain.
We may not get to see anything unexpected in this biopic. The bandwidth of storytelling for all sports bio-pics is nearly identical: struggle preferably with a pushy parent goading the prodigy to glory and greatness, the stardom, the fall, the final triumph. Saina goes through the motions with sure-handed efficacy.
The sequences on the badminton court are well shot. Cinematographer Piyush Shah lenses the insecure middle-class girl and her skyhigh dreams in the opposite of rose-tinted glasses.

Mumbai, March 23 (Ians) In 2011, when Parineeti Chopra made her debut with the film Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, and followed it up with films like Ishaqzaade and Shuddh Desi Romance, few would have imagined the cute, bubbly girl in an intense role as Mira Kapoor in The Girl On The Train, or that she would one day transform into ace shuttler Saina Nehwal in the biopic Saina.
If she has managed to prove her versatility, Parineeti says she seems to have rediscovered herself.
"I feel more liberated now, I feel like I found myself again and I feel great to be myself. You see I introduced to the world through the films and the kind of characters I played in those films. Most of them were the bubbly, happy-go-lucky Punjabi girl who is a drama queen too! Those characters were entertaining and people loved me in those avatars.

Mumbai, March 23 (Ians) Filmmaker Amole Gupte, who has directed the upcoming biopic Saina, says it was a pleasure getting to know the family of badminton star Saina Nehwal while making the film.
"I was excited to burrow neck deep into her life and her journey. I was taken aback by the world number one champion and her family's modesty. Their honesty, simplicity and humility left me awe-inspired," said Gupte, about Saina's family, who stay in Hyderabad.
The filmmaker says that he was inspired by Saina's story.
"I go where my heart leads. I was fascinated by Saina's story, when I saw this young girl go on to become the world number one in badminton, the first woman to achieve this feat for India. ‘Saina' is a story of this simple girl from a simple middle-class background who worked towards becoming the champion," he says.

Parineeti Chopra plays badminton ace Saina Nehwal in the biopic "Saina". The actress says she is glad that only trainers were around on the set and not Saina herself.
"I remember visiting Saina Nehwal's house in Hyderabad to meet her and she told me, 'I have never seen you play sports before'. When we returned, I knew I had to double my training as someone entrusted me with a responsibility to play the sport right. If I can play even one per cent of what she played, I would consider myself lucky. I was glad only my coaches and trainers were there (on the set). If Saina herself had been there, it would've made me very nervous," Parineeti said.
Even though Saina was not physically present at all times, Parineeti reveals that the former was always just a phone call away.
"Saina was very approachable and answered all queries I had.

New Delhi, March 19 (Ians) Composer-singer Amaal Mallik is thankful for lockdown in a way. It gave him time to create the score of "Saina", particularly the anthem song "Parinda".
"Honestly, it was a bit frustrating at times, but it did give me that time to experiment with the music. I wanted to, for example, do something different for 'Parinda', since it is the anthem for the film. It was only possible during lockdown, because the film had gotten delayed that I got the time to work on it and that's when I decided to work with Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra for the film. Overall, the four years didn't really mean that I had to change the sound a lot," he says.

New Delhi, March 14 (Ians) Composer-singer Amaal Mallik is excited about his upcoming soundtrack for "Saina", the biopic of ace shuttler Saina Nehwal, and particularly about the song "Parinda", for a special reason. The song, he recalls, was shot during lockdown with a live orchestra.
Describing the song as the anthem of the film, the 30-year-old musician recalls how he, along with music producer Meghdeep Bose and orchestrator Andrew T Mackay, felt a live orchestra was necessary for the song because it needed a "larger than life" approach.
So, in the midst of lockdown, the song was created with the help of Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra.
"Seeing 40 people playing in masks, giving it their all and witnessing it virtually was a different kind of high. It made me believe in the power of music and how it brings together people from different cultures and mindsets, (especially) in troubled times. It made me...

Mumbai, March 12 (Ians) Singer-composer Armaam Malik, who sang the superhit Telugu song "Butta Bomma" last year, does not like the idea of a Hindi version of the number.
"I think that song is special in that language only. I would not like to make a Hindi version of 'Butta Bomma'," he says of the song, filmed on Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in last year's blockbuster Telugu film "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo".
On the success of the single, Armaan said: "I was very happy to see that my non-Hindi song became a huge hit throughout the country. David Warner made a video on the song as well."
The song composed by S Thaman has seen 559 million hits so far.
Talking about his future projects, he said: "My song from the movie 'Saina' is going to be out soon. I have some non-filmy songs as well, which will be released in Hindi and English.
