The movie keeping aside the dismal performance of the Parineeti, also fails to showcase the role of Pullela Gopichand as a coach. I think his name is not even mentioned and is played by some other imaginary coach. Her mom gets more coverage than coach .
Probably Saina forgot her roots and okayed such a script. Weird. ...

I was completely blown away by the child actress who played saina, even though she had very less dialogue but she shines whenever she comes on screen. Parineeti should have prepared for the role, her performance wasn't convincing enough because there was only zoom shot of parineeti when she plays badminton and in long shot you can clearly see a body double who is playing the tricky shots and I don't know why parineeti mole keep shifting place throughout the film. Amole gupte direction is decent but the supporting cast was really really good especially manav kaul.overall it's was great a opportunity missed. It doesn't worth the risk of going out in covid and watch the movie.
Saina is just a mediocre biographical sports drama film, which couldn't entirely justify Saina Nehwal's life story.
The film opens in the year 2018 where Saina wins two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. The first half of the film begins from her childhood days and young Saina is portrayed by a ten-year-old Naishaa Kaur Bhatoye with ease. Although she hardly got any dialogues but she is so comfortable with badminton matches because in real life she is also one of India's brightest young prospects in the sport of badminton.
Amole Gupte's story is predictable and his direction is simple. He manages to narrate the 31 years of Saina Nehwal in 135 minutes runtime. But the storyline is highly predictable even for the viewers who don't know much about Saina Nehwal's achievements.
The screenplay is stretched in the second half and the downfall of Saina's life isn't executed well. The matches aren't choreographed well, more focused and compelling cinematography would have taken Saina to next level. The climax match of the film lacks the required intensity.
Parineeti Chopra delivered a decent performance. She looks quite convincing as a badminton player and manages to pull off this role with dexterity. Subhrajyoti Barat got an underwritten role. Meghna Malik got a well-written role in the first half and delivered a good performance.
Manav Kaul's character isn't well established, he tries to lift a poorly written character with his sharp dialogue delivery. Eshan Naqvi as Parupalli Kashyap, Saina's boyfriend (now husband) is just shown as her supporter. The makers could have shown that he too is a badminton champion who has won several medals for the country. Other supporting casts are just average.
Saina Movie Rating: Direction 2/5 Acting 3/5 Editing 3/5 Story 2.5/5 Screenplay 2/5.

Parineeti Chopra can't act at all. Stay away from this movie. There is no review, nothing. Just simple as that... she can't act.
Bollywood has lost the art of movie making. They think that, just take renowned actress and cast her for the role irrespective of acting skills. The standout feature of the movie was mole on her cheek. Parineeti pls quit acting.

Extremely Poor Movie.
Worst Biopic Ever Made.
Lots of Overacting By Parineeti and Her Onscreen Mother.

Bollywood seems to be overrated. Some of them don't even know how to act. Nothing new in the movie. The main lead seems to have no resemblance with the actual talent.

Absolutely disappointed with this impersonation of her. I felt as if everything lacked realism & the character was weak & exaggerated in movie without being relatable to the real life person. There were barely any people going for it. Had to go through couple of cancellations due to the same. Finally watched it & wish I didnt. Utterly despicable.

Although movie was being built on a very famous Indian personality, yet movie cast is poor and screenplay is dull and uncatchy. No wonder why this Bollywood industry taking such a deep dive downwards. And, this movie is just another leap downward to this race. Although intent was good, but actor/actress, director need to be more professional and skillful. Waste of money and time, stay indore and enjoy quality. We can give this movie a big miss. My Verdict is .5 out of 100. .5 is for intent.

Firt the Girl on train and now this...
Pathetic Acting really.
Parineeti should give in to more exposy and glamorous roles than trying to do acting.

Just like PM Narendra Modi biopic which was done so awfully by the leading actor, the same legacy was carried by Parineeti Chopra. In fact she was so bad that she didnt even realize that she was traumatizing image of legend like Saina Nehwal. The story was average, direction and acting by leading actor was just bad. Manav Kaul was the only saving grace of the film but somewhere his role was compromised and given less screen time to satisfy ego of Miss Chopra.

After doing lots of brainstorming for searching positive about the movie, yes movie title is good. Actress trying hard to look like Saina, but missing her class and skill completely. Another bollywood junk.

The child actress who plays young Saina is brilliant. Manav Kaul is an actor par excellence, he plays the role of Saina's coach. Meghna Malik as Saina's mom, Subhrajyoti Barat as Saina's father are good. Parineeti seems to have done a lot of homework before getting into the character of Saina. Amole Gupte is a brilliant writer & director. Amaal Malik's music is very good. Watch once, It will inspire you.

Highly disappointed with the rating this movie has achieved on IMDB... Its at 3.7 now...
I know Parineeti has her ups and downs when it comes to acting... But, that doesn't make this biopic anywhere as bad as the ratings suggest. She has given it her best. The Head coach Rajan and Supporting Mom n Dad, the boyfriend etc... Have done a good acting job
Its the story of Our Very Own #SainaNehwal ... Our Indian Sports Hero that has achieved much more than any other INDIAN badminton player has EVER (both Male and Female) achieved. She has been bestowed with 4 NATIONAL AWARDS for Sports. The least we can do is ignore the acting glitches and give respect to the hardships our very own player has seen growing up... & also the efforts the filmmakers and supporting roles have put in.
Its an approved biopic by Saina Nehwal... So it definitely isn't some baseless story. I give it a 7.5 outta 10.. But definitely not below average, like many have given it 1 star... Which is unbelievable... #Kudos to #SainaNehwal... For her achievements.

Boring slow movie. Evident Bollywood is riding at speed downhill. Can't get any lousier.
The Parineeti's acting has taken down the level of entire movie yet again, after "The Girl on a Train". Bollywood again delivers a failed biopic. Please save your time and don't watch this movie.

Would the director not have seen the movie himself after making the movie, if he had seen it, he would have dumped it in the garbage.

One of the dullest biopic ever made. Parineeti Chopra's acting stinks. It's horrible. She is a misfit. Plus story is very slow and boring. You can literally sleep while watching. Despite being a biopic it's a predictable plot. My advice don't waste your time & money on another Bollywood garbage. By this abhor methodology Bollywood will definitely collapse, might be very soon !!
