Outside the movie theater, Talbott gives Troy a mask and tells him that all of the kids get one. This is an inside joke to Halloween 3 : Season of the Witch, in which Tom Atkins, who plays Talbott, starred as the protagonist. Halloween 3's story line revolved around Halloween masks that would kill the children wearing them.

The character of Talbott was specifically written for Tom Atkins to play.
