Good family double drama!
Iceland seems to many Europeans and Americans to be on nearby Mars, a society of strange nature and even stranger people because of the country's comparative isolation.
The film refutes the "strangeness" of Icelanders, confirming the old rule from Anna Karenina that "happy families are alike, but unhappy families are different." You will be satisfied with the scenario, however trivial, although the drama is not single, but double. You will be even more pleased with the acting of the actors, even though they are not claiming an Oscar.
And despite my praise, this is a film that warrants a few days of reflection, but not repeat viewing.
Above average rating: 6.0.

I had to come back and update my review of this weak AF movie and here are some of the glaring weakness you will encounter. The first comes from the typical "I can't communicate with my adoptive parents" who are actually rather nice and the mother tries her best to communicate with this girl who is belligerent for no reason. Next comes the sleazy neighbor whose cringe worthy stares telegraphs that he's going to have relations with the daughter, including the face palm scene in the hot tub/pool which includes stereo-typical bullies making crude remarks. Add the ever so convenience of the daughter skipping school to hitchhike to the town/city and being picked up by the sleaze bag neighbor. And any normal female would have paid heed to the fact that this deadbeat wasn't a good choice since even his ex doesn't want to disappoint the child with another failed outing with the absent father. The only part of this that might have been believable had I watched to the end. Would have been the neglected wife, but even that was a reach. So I have reconsidered my first score of a 3 out of 10, to a 2 out of 10.
It seems that old white men and their lust for teenage girls just never ends. Now I get the part with the wife being neglected, but it went too far in the SOS different day with this girls sudden lust for this old guy and especially after seeing his ex with his child that he obviously neglects.
Three stars for the actress playing the role of the neglected wife, but zero stars for the SOS different day old white man's fantasy.
Straight from the cliches are us factory of boring high school grade films. I was so disgusted that I didn't even wait for the end of this atrocity. If you're into old guys taking advantage of young girls, this is right up your alley, but if you are looking for a film with substance, skip this one.
