Ben Cross died of cancer on August 18th, 2020 and had wrapped filming for his part a mere ten days beforehand.

The film was originally titled "The Devil's Light" but was later changed to "Prey for the Devil".

Koyna Ruseva's second American film. The first one was Train (2008), also a horror film.

The title makes a play on words between "pray" and "prey" taking advantage the similar phonetics. In Spain the title was translated as "Reza por el diablo", using "pray" for the translation. To use "prey", the title would have been "presa para el diablo".

Daniel Stamm replaced another director who was originally hired to direct this film.
