MGM+ announced today that the hit sci-fi horror series From has been renewed for a 10-episode fourth season. The series will return to production in Nova Scotia in 2025 and the new season will premiere in 2026.

Created by John Griffin (Crater) and executive produced by Griffin, showrunner Jeff Pinkner and director Jack Bender, the series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. From is the most viewed series in the history of MGM+.

The series stars Harold Perrineau (Lost) and an ensemble cast which includes Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers), Hannah Cheramy, Simon Webster (Strays), Ricky He (The Good Doctor), Chloe Van Landschoot, Corteon Moore (Utopia Falls), Pegah Ghafoori (The Perfect Wedding), and David Alpay (Castle Rock).

Variety reports that Amazon MGM Studios is developing a TV series based on Steve Berry’s Cotton Malone books, a collection of 18 bestselling novels starting with ‘The Templar Legacy’ in 2006 up to ‘The Atlas Maneuver’ released in February 2024.

With over 15 million copies sold worldwide, the books follow the adventures of Cotton Malone, a former U.S. Justice Department agent turned antiquarian book dealer.

Malone is drawn back into the fold to uncover deep-seated secrets that threaten the future of the U.S. His quest leads him to thrilling international escapades, tackling enemies both foreign and domestic.

Brian Young, who created ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ for Netflix and has worked on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ will write and executive produce the series.

Steve Berry, alongside Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird of Pkm Productions, is also set to executive produce under their overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

A TV series adaptation of the Cotton Malone books by Steve Berry is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned exclusively.

There are currently 18 bestselling novels in the Cotton Malone series, which began with “The Templar Legacy” in 2006 and with “The Atlas Maneuver” being the most recently published in February 2024. The series has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. It is not currently known which book would serve as the basis for the first season of the show should it move forward at Amazon.

Per the show’s official logline, “An ex-u.S. Justice Department agent turned antiquarian book dealer, Cotton Malone continues to serve his country when secrets and conspiracies buried deep in America’s past come to light and threaten its future. These action-packed mysteries take Malone on international adventures, rooting out enemies not only in hostile nations, but in the highest echelons of the United States’ most powerful and clandestine cabals.

It’s not unusual for actors with big stature to get typecast into physically dominating roles, and similar has been the case for Domenick Lombardozzi throughout his career. Since hitting it big in the early 2000s, following his stint in the highly acclaimed The Wire, the actor has continued to star in projects that fed into his tough guy onscreen persona.

Amazon MGM Studios has hired veteran TV executive Stacy Fung as part of its drama series team, Variety has learned exclusively.

In her new senior executive role, Fung will be a part of the team led by Odetta Watkins, head of drama, ongoing series at Amazon MGM Studios. The team is responsible for managing new and returning Amazon series such as “Reacher,” “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “The Terminal List,” “Cross,” and more. Watkins reports to Laura Lancaster, head of co-prod television and ongoing series.

Fung joins Amazon MGM Studios from MRC, where she has worked since 2020 in the TV division. At MRC, Fung was executive vice president and head of current. In that role, she oversaw Amazon shows like “The Terminal List” as well as the upcoming spinoff “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.” Her purview also included series such as “The Great” at Hulu and both “Poker Face” and “Ted” at Peacock.

International television executive, and producing pioneer, Rola Bauer is stepping down from her post as as head of pan-English scripted SVOD TV at Amazon Studios, Bauer and Amazon announced on Wednesday.

After several years at the global streamer, producing series starring the likes of Sophie Turner, Bill Nighy, Riz Ahmed and Robin Wright, Bauer said she wanted to “return to my entrepreneurial roots.”

Bauer was President of International Television Productions at MGM when, in May 2021, Amazon bought the studio in an $8.5 billion deal. Following the merger, she was put in charge of a new division, pan-English global originals, developing and producing English-language series outside the United States.

The project is set up at FilmNation Entertainment‘s production label Infrared, and FilmNation will be launching distribution sales at the upcoming American Film Market in Las Vegas.

Former stuntman Garrett Warren, who served as stunt coordinator on the likes of Logan, Avatar, Alita: Battle Angel, and Road House, will be directing the film. Although Warren is also attached to direct a true crime drama called One Man’s War, it looks like Painter will turn out to be his feature directorial debut.

The executives that comprise the “Office of the CEO” at Paramount Global are getting a sweetened deal to stick around during the limbo ahead of the company’s merger with Skydance Media, which isn’t expected to close until sometime in the first half of 2025.

That Paramount co-ceo trio — George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins — were earlier granted a 2X multiple of their unspecified annual salary, as well as other benefits. Now the company, in a securities filing disclosed on Tuesday, says that pay increase will continue to apply during duration of employment at the company, even if the executives are no longer part of the “Office of the CEO.”

The new securities filing also detailed that the trio also received extra stock and a bonus of Restricted Share Units with a grant value of $3 million.

Amazon Ads is expanding Prime Video’s limited advertisements to new markets in 2025, including Brazil, India, Japan, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

Amazon plans to expand advertising on Prime Video to Brazil, India, Japan, the Netherlands and New Zealand in 2025.

Executives announced the move Tuesday at the annual Amazon Ads “Unboxed” event in Austin, TX, which showcases new products and initiatives.

In January 2024, Prime Video introduced ads on series and film originals and library titles in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, UK and the U.S. Subscribers looking to opt out of ads are able to do so by paying an extra $3 a month. The company followed the ad shift by convening its first upfront event for media buyers, during the main week of presentations in New York by legacy media giants as well as Netflix and YouTube.

Last month, sources confirmed to Deadline that Amazon exceeded its internal target of $1.8 billion in upfront ad commitments. Live sports, along with popular originals like Fallout and Reacher, have given the video outlet a significant boost.

Reacher fans don’t have to worry about this action series ending anytime soon. Prime Video has renewed the series for a fourth season before even announcing a premiere date for season three.

Alan Ritchson, Maria Sten, Anthony Michael Hall, and Sonya Cassidy star in the series based on Lee Child's novels. Season three is based on the seventh novel in the series, Persuader, which has Reacher go undercover to rescue an informant being held by a foe from his past.

Last week Amazon Prime Video flexed its international muscle with a host of events around Europe, including a Prime Video Presents Trailblazers event celebrating women on and off screen – which included appearances from Octavia Spencer, Priyanka Chopra Jones and Amy Pascal – followed by the “Citadel: Diana” premiere in Italy.

Amazon and Apple, two Silicon Valley behemoths, are teaming up more closely in the streaming arena.

Later this month, Apple TV+ will be available via Prime Video in the U.S. as an add-on subscription for $9.99 per month, Amazon announced Wednesday. That’s the same price Apple charges for the stand-alone streaming service.

Apple TV+ joins Prime Video’s collection of more than 100 add-on subscription options in the U.S., which include Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, Paramount Global’s Paramount+, Sony’s Crunchyroll and Amazon-owned MGM+.

The deal to bring Apple TV+ into Prime Video is part of Amazon’s strategy to aggregate as many entertainment options as it can for customers — available on one bill, in one app.

“Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming,” Mike Hopkins, SVP and Head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said in announcing the pact.

Another season of “Reacher” is within reach. On Wednesday, Prime Video announced an early Season 4 renewal for the hit action series, which is currently in production on Season 3. It’s a big month for news in the Reacherverse, as last week Prime Video also announced a series order for a spinoff focused on Frances Neagley, the fan-favorite private investigator character played by Maria Sten.

“Reacher” Season 3 is slated to premiere in 2025. It will be based on author Lee Child’s seventh Jack Reacher novel, “Persuader.” In the season, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) must go undercover to rescue an informant who is being held by an old nemesis of Reacher’s. The announced cast includes Sten, Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Robert Montesinos, Daniel David Stewart, and Olivier Richters. Prime Video has not announced what book will be adapted for Season 4, or when the season will go into production.

For years, fans have loved the Lee Child novels of Jack Reacher. The best-selling books focus on Reacher, a former Army investigator whose bulky frame hides a mind that could match Sherlock Holmes. Reacher roams the country, helping those in need and often involved in some criminal conspiracies.

The books were adapted for a 2012 movie, but fans weren’t happy about the casting of Tom Cruise as Reacher as he didn’t match the powerhouse of the novels and lacked the same energy. A 2016 sequel followed but that seemed the end of the series.

In 2022, Prime Video brought about the Reacher series with Alan Ritchson in the title role and more fitting the book version of Reacher.
