Seamus McGarvey confirmed on his instagram in July 2024 that he would be re-uniting with director Lynne Ramsay on this project and it would be shot on 35mm film.
Filming started in August 2024 in Calgary, Canada and concluded in October 2024.

Following her Oscar nominated and breakout performance in Winter's Bone (2010), it was reported that Jennifer Lawrence was to star in Sissy Spacek's planned directorial debut, Sweet Tea. The project never materialized at a time when Lawrence's rising-star status marked an Academy Award for Best Actress, Silver Linings Playbook (2012), and subsequently becoming cast in major Hollywood productions.
The film cast includes two Oscar winners : Jennifer Lawrence & Sissy Spacek; and two Oscar nominees: LaKeith Stanfield & Nick Nolte.
