The first week of February kicks off with the at-home premiere of this year’s biggest theatrical release so far, while the big screen is taken over by a brand new original slasher movie.

First up, Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man already made its way out of theaters this week and howled its way home, the Universal Monsters reboot now available on Digital outlets.

There is a wildcard at every wedding, but in the case of “You’re Cordially Invited,” there are two. And they are played by Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.

Now streaming on Prime, the film directed by Nicholas Stoller centers on two families who unknowingly double book their weddings at the same small inn — an inn that can really only accommodate one wedding. For Jim (Ferrell), it is his daughter’s, and for Margot (Witherspoon), it is her sister’s. Naturally, the two immediately go insane, trying to force the other to back down.

Somehow, Ferrell and Witherspoon have never led a comedy together, but they are doing it now with a very familiar cast.

Following a brief teaser that was released on Halloween night, Screen Gems has shared the first full trailer for a new seasonal slasher movie titled Heart Eyes, and it promises to deliver a bloody Valentine's Day massacre.

Directed by Josh Ruben from a screenplay by Christopher Landon, Michael Kennedy, and Phillip Murphy, the premise focuses on a masked killer known as Heart Eyes who only targets couples on the most romantic day of the year.

“My love of horror is rivaled only by my love of romantic comedies," said Ruben in a recent interview. "I’m excited as hell to mount my most challenging genre bender to date: a brutal slasher in a nostalgic rom-com universe.”

According to the official synopsis, the story follows “Two co-workers (Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding) who are mistaken for a couple by a murderer in Seattle on Valentine's Day.

This Valentine’s Day, no couple is safe. The filmmakers behind Freaky, Happy Death Day and Werewolves Within join forces for this year’s slasher movie Heart Eyes, and the brand new official trailer has arrived ahead of the film’s release only in theaters on February 7, 2025.

It should likely come as no surprise that the upcoming Valentine’s Day slasher Heart Eyes received an appropriate slasher rating, and that R-rated stamp comes ahead of the film’s full trailer arriving next week.

The slasher is set to arrive in theaters on February 7, 2025.

Heart Eyes has been rated “R” for “strong violence and gore, language and some sexual content.”

In the film, “For the past several years, the Heart Eyes Killer has wreaked havoc on Valentine’s Day by stalking and murdering romantic couples. This Valentine’s Day, no couple is safe.”

Heart Eyes’ first red-band teaser signaled an R-rated slasher ahead, complete with a brutal kill, but it’s nice to receive official confirmation that this horror movie will embrace the holiday’s “red“ color scheme via bloodletting and gore.

Exclusive: Oscar-winning company Caviar has rounded out the cast of Joey Power’s romantic comedy, Love Language with Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live), comedian and podcaster Bobbi Althoff (The Really Good Podcast), Morgan Jay (St. Denis Medical), Stephen Schneider (Broad City), Dan Perrault (American Vandal), Zach Zucker (Sweethearts), Christian Pierce (The Real Bros of Simi Valley) Marchánt Davis (Reality), and Daniel David Stewart (For All Mankind) rounding out the cast.

They join previously-announced Chloë Grace Moretz, Anthony Ramos, Manny Jacinto, Isabel May, Lukas Gage, and Billie Lourd in the production, which is currently shooting in Chicago, Illinois.

Plot details are under wraps. The movie is produced by Bert Hamelinck and Allison Hironaka for Caviar, Colin Jost and Jeff Grosvenor for No Notes Productions and Ari Lubet for 3 Arts Entertainment. EPs are Michael Sagol of Caviar and Tyson Bidner. Caviar has also arranged the financing of the production. CAA Media Finance is repping the U.

Exclusive: Jimmy Tatro has joined the cast of the 20th Century pic Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. He joins an ensemble that includes Vince Vaughn, James Marsden and Eiza Gonzalez. BenDavid Grabinski will write and direct, with Andrew Lazar producing.

Deadline first reported in May that 20th Century landed the project following a heated bidding war. While plot details are vague, the spec is described as a buddy action comedy set in the criminal underworld. No details on who Tatro will be playing.

Best known for his starring roles in The Real Bros of Simi Valley and Home Economics, Tatro is coming off his scene stealing role in Searchlight’s Theater Camp (which he also exec produced). He also recently reprised his role in The Real Bros of Simi Valley: The Movie and can be seen next opposite Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon in the Amazon Studios comedy You’re Cordially Invited.

Even if you didn’t watch The Real Bros of Simi Valley during its three-season run, it’s likely you’ve seen GIFs or clips of a handful of scenes as they’ve made their way around the internet the last few years. Roku has greenlit a new feature The Real Bros of Simi Valley: High School Reunion, a spinoff of the series that previously aired on Facebook Watch.

The Real Bros of Simi Valley, created by Jimmy Tatro and Christian Pierce, started as a web series on Tatro’s YouTube page before moving to Facebook after Tatro broke out as one of the stars of Netflix’s American Vandal. It aired two seasons on the short-lived video service, running for a total of three seasons, ending in 2020.

Now the gang is back with Tatro, Nick Colletti, Tanner Petulla, Cody Ko reprising their roles.

The company was founded by Benjamin Grubbs, former global head of top creator partnerships at YouTube, and Silicon Valley tech investor and entrepreneur Jonathan Shambroom (who was once Gm of the Crackle streaming service).

“The Bay” will move to flagship network Popstar! TV and release six new episodes on Sept. 1. Facebook Watch has canceled two of its shows amid a scaling back of its scripted content.

Both “Limetown” and “Sorry For Your Loss” have been canceled after their first and second seasons respectively, Variety has confirmed.

Based on the podcast of the same name produced by Two Up, “Limetown” followed Lia Haddock (Jessica Biel), a journalist for American Public Radio, as she unravels the mystery behind the disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research facility in Tennessee.

Biel executive produced via her Iron Ocean Productions banner alongside Michelle Purple. Endeavor Content served as the studio. Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, creators of the “Limetown” podcast, wrote and also executive produced. Midnight Radio’s Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg were all executive producers, with Adrienne Erickson producing.

Jimmy Tatro and Christian Pierce are heading back to school with Quibi. The Real Bros Of Simi Valley duo is reteaming to create and star in Junior High (working title), a scripted comedy series for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman’s digital shortform service.

The show is described as an elevation of Tatro and Pierce’s long-running middle school series on YouTube, which originated in 2014 with 6th Grade Sleepovers and since has drawn more than 35 million views. Tatro’s channel, Life According to Jimmy, has amassed 575 million-plus views and 3.3 million subscribers.

Junior High will see Jimmy, Christian and their friends struggle to figure out the fast-paced world of middle school as they face some of life’s biggest questions, such as “Do I want to play in the NFL, the NBA or both?” and “Did I clear the search history on my mom’s computer?”

Freeform is developing a “Dante’s Inferno” drama series, a reimagining of the 14th century epic poem set in present-day Los Angeles, a spokesperson for the network told TheWrap.

The series is described as following Grace Dante, “who thought her life sucked. Between parenting her drug addict mother and her troubled brother, our 20-something hero has had to give up all her dreams. Then one day everything changes and her dreams start magically coming true, school, career, love… but the godfather of all this good fortune is the Devil himself. And to outwit him, she’ll have to journey through Dante’s Inferno.”

Dante Alighieri’s narrative poem “The Divine Comedy,” widely considered one of the greatest works of Western literature, is told in three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, or Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. The poem tells the soul’s journey towards God in the afterlife, told from a medieval world view.

Exclusive: Elizabeth Grullon is set to join Freeform’s Party of Five reboot in a recurring role.

Grullon will step into the role of Sully, an activist that crosses paths with Lucia (Emily Tosta) and becomes an inspiration to her cause. She is the latest to join the cast after Deadline exclusively reported that Garcia and Sol Rodriguez were also joining the Freeform family drama in recurring roles.

The original Party of Five premiered in 1994 and followed the Salinger siblings whose parents died in a car crash. The new series comes from Sony Pictures Television and retells the story through a modern-day lens, chronicling the Acosta children, bound by adversity, as they navigate daily struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico. The Acosta family is played by Brandon Larracuente, Emilio Acosta, Niko Guardado, Elle Paris Legaspi, Bruno Bichir and Fernanda Urrejola.

After creating “The Real Bros of Simi Valley” for his YouTube channel, LifeAccordingToJimmy, star Jimmy Tatro wanted to go bigger and better for the sophomore season.

“Season 1 was able to live on YouTube because I financed it and we just did it,” Tatro tells Variety. “Season 2, I wasn’t really interested in losing that much money again, and we wanted to do it on a larger scale.”

The second season of the comedy series, about five millennial best friends living in Southern California, debuted on Facebook Watch back in November.
