Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue may have been a messed up attempt to teach kids about the dangers of drugs (as the special, with all its dark scenes and the cartoon characters used putting Mikey in dangerous situations or even attempt to kill him, making it look like whoever made the special was doing the drugs the special wanted us to say no to), it has become sort of a cult favorite (possibly to laugh at and talk about how flawed and cheesy the special is nowadays). So in 2019, two men decided to do a re-animation project, with 53 artists contributing.
Okay, so this re-animation project does not do the whole movie (probably to avoid copyright issues, and the fact that it would take too long to do so), and instead, focuses on the special's infamous musical number, where the cartoons sing a song called "Wonderful Ways To Say No". As the scene goes, the video switches to a different artist, some who drew some bizarre things (like a scene where Mikey's skin is decaying, showing some of his skeleton) to scenes where an artist basically snuck in a neat reference (like Kermit doing the Sailor Moon pose, and even some scene where the DuckTales triplets in the design of the 2017 reboot, and Michelangelo in his Rise of The TMNT incarnation), with the audio taken from the special.
Yeah, some of the scenes will be a bit disturbing to some viewers, but the artists all do a good job, proving you don't need to be high on drugs to make a special from 1990 even more bizarre and terrifying than it already was.
