Song for the Wounded (2019)

Trivia

Song for the Wounded

Edit
Meg Biddle and Corynne Wagener actually wrote their own duet song. Originally John Michael had sent them another song to learn and showed up one day to see they threw it out the window and started over. He loved it and said "It was one of the best original songs he ever heard!"
This marks Jeff Mills' first film scoring project. Around the same time he was producing Kate Barnette's self-titled album. Jeff tours with Grammy-award-winning recording artist Chris Thomas King (O Brother, Where Art Thou) and plans on continuing a career in film scoring as well as artist development. He runs a studio in Atlanta called "360 Sessions." Jeff handled the main title, themes for Karen, Rachael and Scotty while John Michael's longtime friend Gavin Salkeld handled the music for Karen and Tiffany and the Nashville Idol theme. Mason Guevera offered additional music in 2 other scenes.
Marie Wasinger who had previously worked with John Michael on a college project called Wandering Hearts was originally considered for the role of Rachael Dawson. She graduated and pursued her dreams outside of acting. That role ultimately went to Corynne Wagener.
Meg Biddle originally was casted to play the lead in John Michael's TV pilot, then-titled "Art of the Deal". However, John Michael got a great idea for a new script. Always knowing he wanted to do a film with an American Idol-like theme, he wrote Song for the Wounded in 3 days. Meg Biddle, more impressed with that project, opted to do Song instead. John Michael would later gut the script for Art of the Deal completely and change it into a short film almost completely changing the story and premise. It would later become his short film called "A Man's World."
This film was shot over the course of 12 days, with 12Stone church being the central area providing the stage and lights. Other locations included, Alexander Park in Lawrenceville, Georgia and Holly Park, Gainesville, Georgia.
