I liked this little Brit comedy film. It was funny, witty and a little dark. Spot on acting and story with a decent end twist. I just so wished the ending had a little more after story because of the twist. Overall all a very decent watch, that will not disappoint.

I hadn't heard about writer and director Adam Oldroyd's 2021 movie titled "Sideshow" before having the opportunity to sit down to watch it. So I didn't know what I was in for here. But given movie's cover I figured it would be worth a watch, especially since the movie had both Les Dennis and Anthony Head on the cast list.
It should be noted, though, that "Sideshow" is not likely to be a movie that will have a wider appeal as being an easy-watch-movie. Why? Well, because the movie has a somewhat weird, if not actually odd and bizarre, storyline and is crammed with an abundance of dark, twisted humor. And it is exactly that which made the movie so glorious. So hats off to writer and director Adam Oldroyd for this accomplishment.
I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, albeit it is likely to be perceived as slow paced and uneventful by some, I suppose. But the layers to the storyline and the rather interesting and well-detailed characters in the movie really made it work gloriously as the movie progressed and things escalated as you got further and further into the story.
And yeah, the movie definitely has a good ensemble of cast members, despite it mainly being just four people that the movie focus on; that being Les Dennis (playing Pendrick), Anthony Head (playing Gerald), April Pearson (playing Eva) and Nathan Clarke (playing Dom). I have to say that these four were superbly cast for the movie and they really portrayed the characters well and brought the characters to life in a very believable manner on the screen, breathing life and personality into these characters so well.
Not only were the characters in the movie very real and nicely portrayed, but the interaction between the characters and the dialogue really added to the overall enjoyment of the movie, and it definitely helped to flesh out the characters and situations and added a very enjoyable aspect to the storyline.
The subtle, yet dark comedy and humor that permeates everything that is "Sideshow" was something that really appealed to me, and it made the movie all the more enjoyable and memorable in my opinion. The comedy in the movie alone makes it more than well-worth taking the time to sit down to watch "Sideshow".
I found "Sideshow" to be a wonderful surprise of a movie experience, and it is definitely a movie that I can and will warmly recommend you take the time to sit down to watch, should you happen to get the chance. Just keep in mind that this is not your average run-of-the-mill standard type of comedy movie.
My rating of writer and director Adam Oldroyd's 2021 movie "Sideshow" lands on a most well-deserved seven out of ten stars. This movie was definitely a most welcomed surprise and a must-watch movie of 2021.

If this was done by the same people behind The league of Gentleman then it would more than likely been good but this looks like some student who's got no idea how it's going to act out on film . Total bore fest!!!!!!

Completely unexpected gem. I can't see it being widely appealing, but its combination of dark humour, plot twists and excellent acting was a real treat.
Quintessentially English in its layout, but completely left field in the best possible way.
Four principle actors all turn in an excellent performance and first class writing. Plus Les Dennis - I wouldn't have expected it, but clearly he deserves a thumbs up. Well done chap.

This dark British comedy is about an old, down on his luck, psychic who has to rely on his stage craft (or possibly real psychic powers) to fend off two robbers who have broken into his house. If you're a fan of British comedy then there's a lot here to enjoy. There's a good cast with a nice supporting role for Anthony Head of Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Giles fame, the script has plenty of twists and turns, as the cat and mouse plot unfolds over the course of a single night and there's a nice, final, final twist that will catch most by surprise. The opening does take it's time, setting up the characters, but it also sets up lots of future revelations which pay off later in the film. Overall it delivers enough laughs, suspense and intrigue for a fun and enjoyable evening's entertainment.

Séance Heist: Vengeance and greed lead a pair of incompetent criminals into a psychic's den of danger and deceit.
Haunting, hilarious and thoroughly entertaining, this is a comedy of escalating catastrophes and a tragic ode to the unlucky.
Another pinnacle for Les Dennis, a gifted supporting cast, and a beautifully impressive third act.
Some of the first act's characterisations, dialogue and plot may be a little predictable.
Mental health issues may be over-generalised.
But there's more chance of you being hit by a meteorite than not enjoying this film with a wide grin!

Yep we're back, young talent on and off screen, smart script a good tale told well by Oldroyd, who also wrote it. Good to see Les Dennis, great comic timing, so British. Beautifully lit and shot by Stephen J. Brand.

I stumbled upon this movie quite by accident looking for something else beginning with the word "side", saw the poster and decided to give it a try. I don't watch too much comedy these days as it seems the genera has become very stale and for lack of a better term, "woke" for my taste but I decided to give it a go and was presently surprised to find myself honestly laughing out loud on multiple occasions. I can see some people not caring for it and sideshow is probably not goin into any one's top 10 lists but its definitely worth a watch for anyone who likes semi dark British comedy/ crime drama.

Really excellent film, thoroughly enjoyed the acting, writing and atmosphere of this thoroughly British independent. Excellent score by Michael Csanyi Wills. Go and see it.
Fantastic. Particularly liked the music...excellently composed by Michael Csanyi-Wills, he's one to watch and creates an all-consuming ambience to the film...

Fun, if sometimes dark, British film. Well directed and acted. Well worth noting is also the most wonderful klezmer/gypsy style score! Hats off to the composer Michael Csányi-Wills, brilliantly written and beautifully played by all musicians. Definitely a soundtrack I'll be buying.
