Alexa Lohman (Sarah) was the last actress out of a dozen young girls to audition for the role and impressed the producers.
The scene where Sarah (Alexa Lohman) teaches Joe Bona (Michael Saquella) the floss dance was improvised by Alexa.
Richard Grieco, who is an avid golfer, was offered the role of Sean McLaw but he was unavailable due to a scheduling conflict. He was replaced by Ryan Merriman, who shot for one day, but backed out. Grieco reclaimed the role to complete the film.
Michael Saquella and Richard Grieco appeared together in Forget About It in 2006.
In the flashback where Joe Bona's two children appear, the young girl is Michael Saquella's real life-daughter Dakota.
