Mumbai, March 3 (Ians) ‘Kanpur ka Tarana’ Vaibhav Gupta has lifted the coveted trophy of the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 14’. The trophy came with a cheque of Rs 25 lakh and a ‘Hot and Techy’ Brezza car.

Vaibhav was one of the six finalists, who included Shubhadeep Das Chowdhury, Ananya Pal, Adya Mishra, Piyush Panwar and Anjana Padmanabhan.

Shubhadeep and Piyush were declared the first and second runners-up, and they went back home with a trophy and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh each. Ananya was the third runner-up, which entitled her to Rs 3 lakh, besides a trophy.

Hindi films were supposed to start big this year in 2024 after the box office got a booster dose last year with Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which performed outrageously well at the box office. However, this year, Hindi films have not been able to match even 50% of what they earned last year.

This year, January 2024, was led by Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone‘s Fighter, majorly with other small releases collecting whatever they could in their capacities. However, the overall collection for January 2024 is not impressive at all.

However, Dp and Hrithik’s opening at the box office has earned fairly well if compared to the last 10 Republic Day releases in the last seven years. From 2015 to 2023, 11 films were released in this period of 8 years.

Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter is all set to release on January 25. This will be the 16th film in the last 13 years. From 2011 to 2023, 14 films have tried to tap into the opportunity for a great box office number around the Republic Day weekend. Right from Aamir Khan Productions’ Dhobi Ghat in 2011, which collected 14 crore at the box office, to Pathaan in 2023, January 26 weekend has witnessed 15 releases.

Hrithik Roshan’s first Republic Day release was Agneepath, released on January 26 in, 2012. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone’s first Republic Day release was Race 2 in 2013, which collected 102 crore at the box office.

In the last 13 years, these 15 Bollywood films have made the best use of the Republic Day weekend, and most of them have fared well at the box office.

Before becoming a dance sensation, Dharmesh used to sell Usal pav in in Vadodara. It was in 2009 that he became popular on television after participating in the dance-based reality show, "Dance India Dance".

A year later he donned the choreographer's hat in the 2010 film, "Tees Maar Khan", and then went on to act in films such as "Abcd: Anybody Can Dance", "Abcd 2" and "Street Dancer 3D".

New Delhi, Nov 6 (Ians) Cinema halls have reopened after the pandemic, but exhibitors say they are struggling to bounce back in business.

Lack of new content, missing magic of big Bollywood entertainers and fear of the virus have all led people to avoid the cinematic experience, forcing theatre owners run shows with empty seats.

Last month, cinemas in several states including Delhi-ncr opened doors to patrons after seven months. The government of Maharashtra also announced reopening of theatres across the state on November 5, with 50 per cent occupancy.

These are positive signs for the film trade but they pose new challenges, mainly pertaining to luring people back into the theatres.

Mumbai, Oct 17 (Ians) Actor Varun Dhawan is currently holidaying in Maldives and he had shared a glimpse of his vacation for fans and followers on social media.

Varun took to Instagram and shared a picture that shows him chilling out in an infinity pool with the backdrop of the sea. He is shirtless, flaunting washboard abs in bright orange shorts paired with reflectors.

His blissful state of mind reminded him of legendary martial arts superstar Bruce Lee's philosophy.

New Delhi, Oct 15 (Ians) With just a few hours left for cinema halls in India to open doors to the public on Friday after a long gap due to the pandemic, trade experts open up on the challenges facing the industry, safety measures to be taken and plans to bring back moviegoers to theatres.

Cinema halls were given the green signal to open from October 15, as per the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry and the Central government. While screening of films at some of the theatres on Thursday were dedicated to staff and family members, the general public can watch films on the big screen Friday onwards.

Mumbai, Aug 27 (Ians) Actor Varun Dhawan has shared that he has been gradually recovering from a shoulder injury during the lockdown.

Varun had injured his shoulder while shooting for "Street Dancer 3D", which released earlier this year. On Thursday, he informed his followers on Instagram that the injury is healing.

"Whatsup.. had a shoulder injury from the time of shooting street dancer. Never healed properly but now after proper rehab, rest, training and yoga I can start putting weight on it and maybe get back to these exercises," Varun wrote.

With his note, he posted a video in which he can be seen doing a single dumbbell push up.

Varun will next be seen sharing screen space with Sara Ali Khan in the remake of the 1995 hit film "Coolie No. 1", which is directed by his father David Dhawan.

Throw in the India-Pakistan rivalry and a global dance competition, and there is nowhere in the world of dance left to hide. The previous films have been successful in the past on remade music, some of which has come through here as well, which like the title song for Race, Dhoom or Golmaal, give the whole series an overarching flavour.
