“Jury Duty” will be back for Season 2 sooner than we think.

The Amazon Freevee comedy, which became a surprise hit for the platform and migrated over to Prime Video after the sibling streamer’s shuttering, already produced its next installment, according to media reports.

Amazon representatives declined to comment for the story.

The new season is believed to be set at a corporate retreat instead of a courtroom, according to a report from Variety. Filming took place in Los Angeles and Deadline reported the story will center around a David vs. Goliath theme.

“Jury Duty” was created by Lee Eisenberg, and Gene Stupnitsky. Season 1 followed breakout star Ronald Gladden in a documentary-style journey following his time as a juror, until it is revealed that the proceedings were fake from the start.

Legendary and Capcom's planned Street Fighter reboot hit a major setback when Danny and Michael Philippou - who helmed Aussie horror hit Talk To Me and the upcoming Bring Her Back - stepped away from the project, but a new director has now been found.

Following a 2024 report from Daniel Richtman, THR has now confirmed that Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) has signed on to helm the film.

Sakurai is probably best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, and has also directed the pilot and several episodes of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Butterfly, as well as episodes of Peacock’s video game adaptation Twisted Metal.

Reports indicate that "scheduling was partly to blame" for the Philippou brothers' decision, as the filmmakers had shifted their focus to heir next project, Bring Her Back, which recently debuted its first trailer.

A24 has released an array of fantastic horror films over the years, one of them being 2022’s Talk To Me, Danny and Michael Philippou’s debut that featured a brilliantly ghoulish set-up: a cursed hand and a bunch of teenagers playing with it, blind to the doom that will surely follow.

It’s no surprise that A24 signed up the Philippou brothers to work on a sequel to Talk To Me, but also for another original horror project called Bring Her Back. The latter is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on the 30th May 2025, having been shot in Adelaide last June and July.

Netflix is in early development on a comedy feature, “Little Brother,” with Cena and Andre set to star.

The film follows a famous real estate agent whose carefully curated world is upended when his eccentric “little brother” unexpectedly reappears.

Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel serve as the film’s writers, while David Bernad and Ruben Fleischer are producing.

Cena will embark on his farewell WWE tour in 2025. He’s next set to star in the live-action feature film “Matchbox” from Skydance, Mattel Films and Apple, and return in the second season of the Max original series “Peacemaker.”

In a video posted to Instagram, the comedian and actor said he was “pulled out of a lineup and put in a special line in Melbourne where I was sniffed thoroughly by a dog.”

Their new collaboration is the sci-fi horror movie The Mill, which is set to start streaming on October 9th as part of the service’s “Huluween” event. Pussy Riot are taking Maria Alyokhina’s “Riot Days” tour to North America this fall.

Based on Alyokhina’s 2017 memoir of the same name, the “Riot Days” tour combines live music, theatre, and video as the Pussy Riot member recounts her experiences protesting with the Russian punk collective — and facing imprisonment for the group’s guerrilla tactics. The activist has taken the show across the globe in recent years and won the Woody Guthrie prize in the States for its anti-fascist politics.

Beginning November 1st in Montreal, the fall 2023 trek takes Pussy Riot — in this iteration, featuring Alyokhina, Diana Burkot, Olga Broisova, and Alina Petrova — to Toronto, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, Nashville, DC, and more before wrapping up December 8th in Brooklyn. Exclusive: Max Hollman, a rising star drama executive at HBO, has left the premium cable network to join Middle Child Pictures, the film and TV company launched recently by David Bernad. Hollman will continue to work with HBO as he sets off to run television for Middle Child Pictures as Producer/Executive through a first-look TV deal the company has signed with HBO and A24.

Under that pact, HBO will get first crack at Middle Child Pictures’ TV development, with A24 serving as the studio on projects that the network takes in. For shows that don’t go to HBO, A24 can come on board and sell them elsewhere.

Eric André gives a blunt explanation for the return of his sketch comedy program, The Eric Andre Show. Imitating late-night talk shows, the series incorporates outlandish skits and celebrity interviews, with André acting as the host. When “The Eric Andre Show” returns to the Adult Swim airwaves tonight after a three year hiatus, fans of Andre’s brand of surrealist talk show humor will be treated to another round of awkward interviews, deranged pranks, and naked PAs.

The series, which premiered in 2012, made Andre a star in alternative comedy circles. But after a successful five-year run, he paused the show in 2020 to pursue bigger projects. In a new interview with the Associated Press, Andre said that his decision to bring the show back for a sixth season was partially due to his Netflix movie “Bad Trip” not being the financial windfall that he expected it to be.

“I was going to end the show after five seasons and then I didn’t make any money on ‘Bad Trip,’” he said, before adding that he still enjoys making the show and is open to more seasons. “Why...

Comedian Eric Andre is returning to Adult Swim for a sixth season of his absurdist talk show “The Eric Andre Show,” and he says his reasoning is partially financial. In an interview with the Associated Press, published Saturday, Andre said he would’ve called it quits earlier had his 2021 film “Bad Trip” been at all lucrative for him.

“I was going to end [‘The Eric Andre Show’] after five seasons and then I didn’t make any money on ‘Bad Trip,’” Andre said.

The film, which André co-wrote, produced and starred in, was never released in theaters due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The hidden camera comedy went through distribution issues before eventually being released on Netflix in 2021. In a recent interview with Howard Stern, André said the film took nearly a decade to make, but he only made around $17,000 from it.

Ever a man of extremes, Eric Andre, who by all accounts buffed up into the best shape of his life as a bit for the new season of his late-night prank show, shows up to our interview in a bright green Newport Cigarettes tracksuit.

“I’m polluting my body yet again,” Andre tells Den of Geek magazine. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a Newport in my life. [Laughs] I’m a poser. I’m a fraud.”

When we meet Andre, he’s a handful of days into a trip to Austin, Texas, where Adult Swim screened two episodes of The Eric Andre Show’s sixth season on the opening day of the SXSW Comedy Festival to a raucous sell-out crowd with supporting sets from his new co-host Felipe Esparza and comedian friend Reggie Watts.

After a decade-long friendship, comedy producers David Bernad and Todd Schulman finally put together their hidden-camera comedy expertise to make Amazon Freevee’s viral success “Jury Duty.”

The executive producers of the overnight hit mockumentary combined their talents for the improvised-scripted sitcom. Bernad and Schulman began with the idea to hone in on sitcom genre tropes and create a story about an isolated individual amongst a cast of actors as they served on a sequestered jury.

The two have had successful stints with unconventional comedy subgenres, most recently within the improvised-scripted sphere. Schulman worked with Sacha Baron Cohen on “Who Is America?” and Bernad teamed with Eric Andre on “Bad Trip.” Prior to “Jury Duty,” Schulman served as executive producer on “Borat,” “Bruno,” “The Lovebirds” and “The Dictator,” while Bernad executive produced “The White Lotus,” “Superstore,” “Uncharted” and “White House Plumbers.“

Funny stuff.

If, like me, you find the whole late night scene a fascinating anachronism in 2023, you're not alone. The great comedian Tim Heidecker loves to skewer the increasingly outdated talk show format whenever he gets a chance. But he and his Abso Lutely productions, which he co-owns with fellow "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job" star Eric Wareheim, have also gone a step further and provided the perfect salve for anyone overwhelmed by the mediocrity of Carpool Karaoke and pre-prepared talk show anecdotes.

In the days since the finale of “Jury Duty” on Amazon Freevee, Ronald Gladden’s life has changed in ways he never could have imagined. After responding to a Craigslist ad asking for participants to take part in a documentary about jury duty, the 30-year-old San Diego-based project manager instead found himself as the unknowing star of his very own “Truman Show.”

He ended up being the foreman on an absurd, fake trial while a cast of actors orchestrated a string of ludicrous scenes pulled straight out of a sitcom. While in hindsight it’s hard to see how Gladden didn’t have his suspicions, the most unbelievable moment for him might have come in the final episode, when it’s revealed that every interaction he’s had over the past month was scripted and rehearsed, with hidden cameras documenting his every move that would ultimately be viewed by millions of strangers.

The cast of One True Loves includes a combination of blockbuster movie stars and Broadway talents in a story of three characters who unexpectedly find themselves in a complicated love triangle. Based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Daisy Jones & the Six), the romantic drama follows a woman torn between her thought-dead husband and her new fiancé. It's like a gender-swapped remake of the Cary Grant and Irene Dunne classic My Favorite Wife, minus the screwball comedy antics, and One True Loves is similarly hinged on the appeal of its casting.

While not filled with household names, especially compared to previous movies directed by Andy Fickman (Playing With Fire), which were led by the likes of Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, and Bette Midler, the main and supporting cast of One True Loves consists of recognizable actors from some of the biggest entertainments of the past decade.

Atx TV Festival has announced several additions to its already-packed slate for the annual event being held in Austin, Texas.

Exclusive: Oscar winning co-director/co-scribe/producer of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Rodney Rothman, and former MGM exec Adam Rosenberg, have inked a first look deal with Sony Pictures to develop, produce, write, and direct feature films through their company, Modern Magic.

Deadline revealed that Lil Rel Howery ("Get Out") and Rainn Wilson ("Weird: The Al Yankovic Story") will star as the pair of paramedics, saving lives and making us laugh. "Code 3" is still in pretty early production, so details are subject to change and the cast will continue to grow, but the movie already sounds like a lot of fun.

Exclusive: Dascha Polanco (Orange Is The New Black) and Lil Rel Howery (Free Guy) have been cast opposite Natasha Lyonne in Poker Face, Peacock’s 10-episode mystery drama series from Rian Johnson, his T-Street banner and MRC Television.

Details about the series or its characters have not been revealed beyond the show being described by Johnson as a fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery. In addition to Lyonne, Polanco and Howery join previously cast Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, Benjamin Bratt and David Castañeda.

Sweet Tooth is described as a hilarious and terrifying hulk of a man, who is as emotional as he is cunning. A lover of chaos, this majestic rage-filled killer dons an ever-smiling clown mask and uses “Lost Vegas” as his own personal kill-ground, all while he drives his infamous doomsday ice cream truck.

It had been widely speculated that Arnett, who executive produces the series, would voice the character but it had never been officially announced.

Based on the classic PlayStation game series, Twisted Metal is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. IFC Films has acquired the worldwide rights (excluding Nordics) to “Bad Axe,” a documentary from director David Siev that won the Audience Award for a documentary at this year’s SXSW.

Siev’s debut feature documentary follows an Asian-American Michigan family as they fought racism and abuse in order to keep their local restaurant alive and open amid the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and the backdrop of Trump-era political and racial tensions.

John Davis is producing through his Davis Entertainment banner along with Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald through their Counterbalance Entertainment. Davis Entertainment’s John Fox and Jeremy Stein are executive producing.
