“Jury Duty” will be back for Season 2 sooner than we think.
The Amazon Freevee comedy, which became a surprise hit for the platform and migrated over to Prime Video after the sibling streamer’s shuttering, already produced its next installment, according to media reports.
Amazon representatives declined to comment for the story.
The new season is believed to be set at a corporate retreat instead of a courtroom, according to a report from Variety. Filming took place in Los Angeles and Deadline reported the story will center around a David vs. Goliath theme.

Legendary and Capcom's planned Street Fighter reboot hit a major setback when Danny and Michael Philippou - who helmed Aussie horror hit Talk To Me and the upcoming Bring Her Back - stepped away from the project, but a new director has now been found.
Following a 2024 report from Daniel Richtman, THR has now confirmed that Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) has signed on to helm the film.
Sakurai is probably best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, and has also directed the pilot and several episodes of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Butterfly, as well as episodes of Peacock’s video game adaptation Twisted Metal.
Reports indicate that "scheduling was partly to blame" for the Philippou brothers' decision, as the filmmakers had shifted their focus to heir next project, Bring Her Back, which recently debuted its first trailer.

The directors of Talk To Me return with Bring Her Back, starring Sally Hawkins. Here’s a disturbing trailer and new details:
A24 has released an array of fantastic horror films over the years, one of them being 2022’s Talk To Me, Danny and Michael Philippou’s debut that featured a brilliantly ghoulish set-up: a cursed hand and a bunch of teenagers playing with it, blind to the doom that will surely follow.
It’s no surprise that A24 signed up the Philippou brothers to work on a sequel to Talk To Me, but also for another original horror project called Bring Her Back. The latter is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on the 30th May 2025, having been shot in Adelaide last June and July.
The terrific Sally Hawkins stars, with Billy Barratt, Stephen Phillips, Sally-Anne Upton, Jonah Wren Phillips, Olga Miller, Mischa Heywood, Liam Damons, Alina Bellchambers all co-starring.

The road to developing Legendary’s new live-action Street Fighter movie has been a bumpy one; the project lost directors Danny & Michael Philippou last summer when the filmmakers shifted to focus on Bring Her Back. Today, Deadline reports that a new director has taken the reins.
“Twisted Metal” and Bad Trip director Kitao Sakurai is officially taking over directorial duties from the Philippou brothers.
Sony Pictures previously announced that the new movie based on the popular video game franchise was set for theatrical release on March 20, 2026. With the new director in place, this date will likely hold but it’s still early yet.
Legendary is co-developing and producing the live-action feature with Capcom. Capcom’s popular franchise launched in 1987 with the arcade fighting game Street Fighter, followed by the even more popular Street Fighter II in 1991. Legendary’s live-action Street Fighter movie, based on the Capcom video games, has found a new director in Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), Deadline has learned.
Sakurai inherits the project from Talk To Me filmmakers Danny & Michael Philippou, who attached themselves in April of 2023, following the studio’s acquisition of exclusive film and TV rights to the property.
Street Fighter is a series of fighting games, launched in 1987, which revolves around intense one-on-one battles between a diverse cast of martial artists. While the plot of the film and other attachments are being kept under wraps for now, the games often center around a global fighting tournament organized by M. Following the exit of the Philippou Brothers, Bad Trip director Kitao Sakurai is reportedly in place to bring Capcom’s beloved Street Fighter franchise to the big screen.
Round Two: Fight! It looks like the second attempt to get Legendary and Capcom’s Street Fighter revival off the ground with a director is up and running. Back in June of this year, we covered a report which stated that both companies were lining the project up for a 2026 release. The only problem? The film didn’t have a director. Well, it did have a director at one point, two of them in fact, but by the point that that 2026 date was revealed, they’d both departed.
The Philippou brothers – makers of 2022’s incredible Talk To Me – were originally slated to direct Street Fighter, a movie based on Capcom’s enduringly popular fighting videogame franchise featuring a colourful cast of martial artists from across the globe.

The beloved Fox police procedural drama, Bones, captivated mystery and crime series lovers for 12 seasons, running from 2005 to 2017. Following a brilliant forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan and her charismatic partner, FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, the show skillfully intertwined complex criminal cases with rich character-driven narratives.

Eric André says he was “racially profiled” and “detained” at the Melbourne Airport after a series of flights from New York City.
In a video posted to Instagram, the comedian and actor said he was “pulled out of a lineup and put in a special line in Melbourne where I was sniffed thoroughly by a dog.”
“It’s one of the many times I’ve been racially profiled at the airport,” André said. “So this is a message for all Black, brown and indigenous people traveling through Melbourne today.”
André then asked his nearly three million followers if anyone had information about the specific police program, or statistics on how many white passengers versus people of color are selected. He also solicited recommendations for a discrimination lawyer in Australia.

When Mel Brooks feature filmmaking debut "The Producers" hit theaters in 1968, it was both a critical/commercial smash and a bit of a scandal. Emboldened in part by the increasing permissiveness of the counterculture comedy era, Brooks pushed the outside of the envelope with a ribald sense of humor he couldn't indulge as a writer for NBC's "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour" and outright shredded it by making light of the Third Reich with the film's fictional musical "Springtime for Hitler." Soon after the film's release, he was confronted in an elevator by a woman who told him "The Producers" was vulgar. Brooks fired back, "Lady, it rose below vulgarity."
This, I believe, is true of "Jackass." Created by Jeff Tremaine, Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville, this showcase for a gang of lovable skateboard-culture knuckleheads who subject themselves and each other to a series of physically/mentally...

After starring in the comedy Vacation Friends (which I enjoyed much more than our reviewer did) and its sequel (didn’t watch that one yet) for the Hulu streaming service, Lil Rel Howery has taken the lead in another Hulu Original – but this time they switched up genres. Their new collaboration is the sci-fi horror movie The Mill, which is set to start streaming on October 9th as part of the service’s “Huluween” event. With that release date just over a week away, we’ve gotten our hands on a trailer for The Mill, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Directed by Sean King O’Grady (We Need to Do Something) from a screenplay by Jeffrey David Thomas (All American: Homecoming), The Mill sees Howery playing the role of a white-collar businessman who mysteriously wakes up in an open-air prison cell containing only an old grist mill.

The horror genre is built on the idea that you can take real-world issues and add a few scares to create something memorable. And that’s precisely the goal with the upcoming film, “The Mill.”

Pussy Riot have unveiled the new song “Bad Trip,” which features UK rock duo Nova Twins and Argentinian producer Mykka.
The track starts with some buzzing guitar noise before launching into a chaotic, sexy, screamy, and, at times, whisper-fueled pop-metal anthem, featuring the lyrics, “You’ll never see us coming/ There’s nowhere to escape/ Power, superNova/ Pussy Riot til it’s over.”
Pussy Riot leader Nadya Riot (formerly Nadya Tolokonnikova) said of the song, “Mykka played this beat for me and I got obsessed and begged her to give it to me. It sounds menacing and dominant. A wooded setting, two characters, and conflicting values are the basis for Manami Ikemoto's clever short film “Hunting Results.” Ikemoto primarily works as an editor and creates films that detail the behind-the-scenes process in filmmaking. Here, he shines as a director in his first major project since his graduation movie, “Bad Trip.” With a low budget and two actors, he explores ideas of evolving perspectives and people who stand by old-fashioned notions.
Hunting Results is screening at Skip City International D-Cinema Festival
In the story, a married couple is out on a hunting trip. The husband, Naotaro, is overbearing and excessively stands by patriarchal values, while the wife, Yuko, is laid back and open-minded. Naotaro is deeply bothered that his daughter, Misako, is gay and takes out his frustrations on his spouse. Yet, Yuko stands up for herself, and the couple's complicated marriage and beliefs are explored in their journey into the woods.

After a successful post-pandemic return in 2022, San Diego Comic-Con will hold a much quieter event for 2023, which runs from July 20-23. In June, with possibility of SAG-AFTRA joining the WGA on the picket lines — as well as the success of other focused fan events (like Star Wars Celebration and Tudum) — several major players decided to sit out this year’s convention before the schedule had even been announced, including Marvel, Lucasfilm, HBO, Universal, Sony and Netflix. By the time Sdcc announced the schedule in early July, Warner Bros. had also elected to be absent this year, despite upcoming DC projects like “Blue Beetle” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
Some studios and productions, however, did announce major panels in the hope that SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP would strike a deal in time for the convention — which didn’t happen. SAG-AFTRA is now on strike, less than a week before Sdcc is set to begin,...

San Diego Comic-Con is going to be a little different this year. Many studios had already dropped out of presenting, including Marvel, Sony, HBO, Universal, and Netflix, and now that SAG-AFTRA has joined the WGA on the picket lines, you can pretty much kiss any panel involving writers or actors goodbye. The official Comic-Con schedule has been updated with a list of cancelled panels, which unfortunately includes Dune: Part Two, The Boys spin-off series Gen V, Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, Lionsgate’s upcoming The Strangers trilogy, and more.

Eric André gives a blunt explanation for the return of his sketch comedy program, The Eric Andre Show. Imitating late-night talk shows, the series incorporates outlandish skits and celebrity interviews, with André acting as the host. It premiered on Adult Swim back in 2012 and has aired over 50 episodes, along with multiple specials, including The Eric Andre New Year's Eve Spooktacular. In addition to Hannibal Buress, who co-hosted much of the show before departing in season 5, Ryan Phillippe, Seth Rogen, Judy Greer, Lakeith Stanfield, and more have appeared as guests.
It was confirmed in 2022 that The Eric Andre Show was renewed for season 6, scheduled to release on June 4. In a recent interview with The Associated Press, André revealed that he intended to end the series after season 5. The creator explained that the reason for its return was, in part, because he did not make money on the 2021 film Bad Trip. Read...

When “The Eric Andre Show” returns to the Adult Swim airwaves tonight after a three year hiatus, fans of Andre’s brand of surrealist talk show humor will be treated to another round of awkward interviews, deranged pranks, and naked PAs.
The series, which premiered in 2012, made Andre a star in alternative comedy circles. But after a successful five-year run, he paused the show in 2020 to pursue bigger projects. In a new interview with the Associated Press, Andre said that his decision to bring the show back for a sixth season was partially due to his Netflix movie “Bad Trip” not being the financial windfall that he expected it to be.
“I was going to end the show after five seasons and then I didn’t make any money on ‘Bad Trip,’” he said, before adding that he still enjoys making the show and is open to more seasons. “Why...

Comedian Eric Andre is returning to Adult Swim for a sixth season of his absurdist talk show “The Eric Andre Show,” and he says his reasoning is partially financial. In an interview with the Associated Press, published Saturday, Andre said he would’ve called it quits earlier had his 2021 film “Bad Trip” been at all lucrative for him.
“I was going to end [‘The Eric Andre Show’] after five seasons and then I didn’t make any money on ‘Bad Trip,’” Andre said.
The film, which André co-wrote, produced and starred in, was never released in theaters due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The hidden camera comedy went through distribution issues before eventually being released on Netflix in 2021. In a recent interview with Howard Stern, André said the film took nearly a decade to make, but he only made around $17,000 from it.
Despite its delayed release, the film was at one point the No.

Ever a man of extremes, Eric Andre, who by all accounts buffed up into the best shape of his life as a bit for the new season of his late-night prank show, shows up to our interview in a bright green Newport Cigarettes tracksuit.
“I’m polluting my body yet again,” Andre tells Den of Geek magazine. “I don’t think I’ve ever had a Newport in my life. [Laughs] I’m a poser. I’m a fraud.”
When we meet Andre, he’s a handful of days into a trip to Austin, Texas, where Adult Swim screened two episodes of The Eric Andre Show’s sixth season on the opening day of the SXSW Comedy Festival to a raucous sell-out crowd with supporting sets from his new co-host Felipe Esparza and comedian friend Reggie Watts.

The films released in 2020 and 2021 exist in this weird bubble, thanks to Covid. The ones that were released in theaters didn’t get seen by a lot of people. Other films that were destined for theatrical release were sent to streaming. Just as a fan of films, it was a confusing, strange time. On the business side, we saw Scarlett Johansson sue Disney for loss of money due to Covid release changes, and we also saw filmmakers come out to decry the evils of a straight-to-streaming release.

After a decade-long friendship, comedy producers David Bernad and Todd Schulman finally put together their hidden-camera comedy expertise to make Amazon Freevee’s viral success “Jury Duty.”
The executive producers of the overnight hit mockumentary combined their talents for the improvised-scripted sitcom. Bernad and Schulman began with the idea to hone in on sitcom genre tropes and create a story about an isolated individual amongst a cast of actors as they served on a sequestered jury.
The two have had successful stints with unconventional comedy subgenres, most recently within the improvised-scripted sphere. Schulman worked with Sacha Baron Cohen on “Who Is America?” and Bernad teamed with Eric Andre on “Bad Trip.” Prior to “Jury Duty,” Schulman served as executive producer on “Borat,” “Bruno,” “The Lovebirds” and “The Dictator,” while Bernad executive produced “The White Lotus,” “Superstore,” “Uncharted” and “White House Plumbers.“

Did anyone catch that sketch in James Corden's final "Late Late Show" where the unctuous Brit got a farewell from all the late night talk show hosts? Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Myers, and David Letterman all had a grand old time poking fun at Corden and his proclivity for singing and dancing before the host wakes up to find it was all a dream. Funny stuff.
If, like me, you find the whole late night scene a fascinating anachronism in 2023, you're not alone. The great comedian Tim Heidecker loves to skewer the increasingly outdated talk show format whenever he gets a chance. But he and his Abso Lutely productions, which he co-owns with fellow "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job" star Eric Wareheim, have also gone a step further and provided the perfect salve for anyone overwhelmed by the mediocrity of Carpool Karaoke and pre-prepared talk show anecdotes.

In the days since the finale of “Jury Duty” on Amazon Freevee, Ronald Gladden’s life has changed in ways he never could have imagined. After responding to a Craigslist ad asking for participants to take part in a documentary about jury duty, the 30-year-old San Diego-based project manager instead found himself as the unknowing star of his very own “Truman Show.”
He ended up being the foreman on an absurd, fake trial while a cast of actors orchestrated a string of ludicrous scenes pulled straight out of a sitcom. While in hindsight it’s hard to see how Gladden didn’t have his suspicions, the most unbelievable moment for him might have come in the final episode, when it’s revealed that every interaction he’s had over the past month was scripted and rehearsed, with hidden cameras documenting his every move that would ultimately be viewed by millions of strangers.

The cast of One True Loves includes a combination of blockbuster movie stars and Broadway talents in a story of three characters who unexpectedly find themselves in a complicated love triangle. Based on the novel of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Daisy Jones & the Six), the romantic drama follows a woman torn between her thought-dead husband and her new fiancé. It's like a gender-swapped remake of the Cary Grant and Irene Dunne classic My Favorite Wife, minus the screwball comedy antics, and One True Loves is similarly hinged on the appeal of its casting.
While not filled with household names, especially compared to previous movies directed by Andy Fickman (Playing With Fire), which were led by the likes of Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, and Bette Midler, the main and supporting cast of One True Loves consists of recognizable actors from some of the biggest entertainments of the past decade.

“Jury Duty,” the upcoming docu-style comedy series starring James Marsden as himself, explores truths stranger than fiction when one unsuspecting juror is put in a courtroom of actors for a fake case and a faker documentary.
Marsden leads the “Truman Show”-style misadventure, playing a version of himself who tries – and fails – to get out of his civic duty when the judge fails to recognize him as a public figure. In the first trailer for the Amazon Freevee series, which dropped Tuesday, other characters are seen pushing the envelope of what’s acceptable behavior in the literal court of law – while real-life juror Ronald Gladden goes about his duty being none the wiser that everything is staged.

Stressful days at work take on new meaning when you're a paramedic, and in "Code 3," the upcoming buddy action-comedy from Wayfarer Studios and Circle of Confusion, two paramedics have the wildest day possible (all for our entertainment!). Deadline revealed that Lil Rel Howery ("Get Out") and Rainn Wilson ("Weird: The Al Yankovic Story") will star as the pair of paramedics, saving lives and making us laugh. "Code 3" is still in pretty early production, so details are subject to change and the cast will continue to grow, but the movie already sounds like a lot of fun.
The work of a paramedic might not seem all that funny (just look at "Bringing Out the Dead"), but given the bizarre situations that many people get themselves into, I can imagine there's still humor to be found. Not every call is a nightmare, and there's probably some ridiculous and funny stuff that happens too.

Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church is set as a lead alongside Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz in Twisted Metal, Peacock’s comedic half-hour live-action adaptation of the popular video game.
Based on the classic PlayStation game series, Twisted Metal is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
Church will play Agent Stone, a cold and unyielding post-apocalyptic highway patrolman who rules the roads with a silver tongue and a twisted iron fist, prosecuting even the smallest crimes with the harshest of judgements.

With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
Mackie plays John Doe, a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives.
