Ella herself said in an interview that her biggest influence was Connie Boswell, from New Orleans, who was performing jazz in the 1920s. I heard her say it. Don't know why that wasn't mentioned in the documentary. Instead, Louis Armstrong is shownas "probably" being an influence for skat singing.
