Flashback and character development

This short TOS-era Star Trek fan film is set in the Avalon Universe. It is best watched between the two slightly longer films Avalon Universe: Ghost Ship - A Star Trek Fan Production (2018) and Avalon Universe: Demons - A Star Trek Fan Production (2019).

The film's main plot, the shuttle accident in which Derek Mason died, is told in flashback sequences. The rest is character development for his friends Lance Ramirez and Amanda Beck.
