The classic children’s book by Margery Williams gets a new take just in time for the holidays on Apple TV+, and TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of The Velveteen Rabbit ahead of its November 22 premiere. “Wise Horse, what does real mean? Does it mean having bits of you that move about?” the Velveteen Rabbit (voiced by Alex Lawther) asks. “Don’t listen to the others, Rabbit,” Wise Horse (voiced by Helena Bonham Carter) says. “Being real isn’t about how you are put together. It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become real. It’s not just about those repeats of A Christmas Story on TNT anymore.

Multiple linear channels and streamers are getting into the holiday spirit this month and next by dropping original Christmas movies, as well as old favorites and one-off holiday specials. As usual, Hallmark has wall-to-wall flicks planned until the end of the month, but Great American Family, Lifetime and BET have their own original slates as well to help ring in the new year.

And if the classics are all that you are looking for, there are still airings of It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, The Santa Cause, The Wizard of Oz and Miracle on 34th Street scheduled for the boomers and Gen Xers.

A musical event starring Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham and new holiday-themed specials from Frog and Toad and The Snoopy Show are set to premiere as part of Apple TV+’s November and December 2023 programming. The winter holiday lineup kicks off with the 50th anniversary screening of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, which will stream for free on November 18 and 19, 2023.

The lineup also includes a new special based on Margery Williams’ classic children’s book The Velveteen Rabbit, and a sing-along version of Spirited starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. Holiday-inspired specials from Sago Mini Friends and Shape Island will debut on the streaming service in December.
