Cecil B. DeMille originally wanted Gloria Swanson for the female lead. Swanson was still under contract to Triangle Studios who refused to loan her out to Paramount. When Triangle dissolved later in 1918, Swanson terminated her contract and signed with Paramount.
This film is preserved in the George Eastman House Motion Picture Collection.
