The original Broadway production of "Lilac Time" by Jane Cowl and Jane Murfin opened at the Theater Republic on February 6, 1917 and ran for 176 performances. The cast included Cowl herself, as well as Orme Caldara, Harry Crocker Charles Esdale, Lawrence Grant, Charles Hampden, Felix Krembs, Mayne Lynton, Cecil Owen, Henry Stephenson and Cecil Yapp.
Frank Lloyd directed several scenes when director George Fitzmaurice was unavailable, and also some additional scenes after the film was finished.
