Featured review
Who says we moderns invented the movie franchise? Long before the Rockys and the Aliens among countless other sequel series, there was The Cohens and the Kellys. This entry was the third of seven C&K movies, and not the best. Mack Swain was the third actor to play Mr. Kelly (after which, the part wisely returned to Charles Murray) with George Sidney on board as Mr. Cohen. In the original release, the film contained some talking sequences which were missing from the print I saw at Cinefest in Syracuse New York. Some on-location filming was interesting and Mack Swain in a bathing suit was worth the price of admission, but over-all the story of the kids trying to update their pop's swimsuit business it was ho-hum.
