This was the first of many collaborations between Tod Browning and Lon Chaney.
Priscilla Dean was quite a big name during these early days of Hollywood. Nowadays, she is completely forgotten.
About 20 minutes into the film, Mary Stevens (Priscilla Dean) emerges from a movie theatre which just happens to have been showing a couple of recent Universal releases, The Man Inside (1916) and the Fighting Gringo (1917) with Harry Carey.
