Within five years after its initial release, three of its leading players, Marie Prevost (in 1937), Ford Sterling (in 1939), and Ben Turpin (in 1940) had all passed away.
When studio boss Jack L. Warner saw the positive reactions the film received in a preview, he wanted to sign all the main actors to a contract for a series of such films. However, their agents heard about all of this in advance and priced their clients right out of any deal as far as Warner was concerned.
