One of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929 and 1949, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since; its earliest documented telecast took place in Boston Tuesday 30 September 1958 on WBZ (Channel 4); it first aired in Omaha Sunday 13 September 1959 on KETV (Channel 7).
According to an article in the 30 November 1935 edition of The Hollywood Reporter, the film passed the censors in the UK only after the sequence of the attempted arrest in a church was cut. And according to an article in April 1936 from the same publication, the film was banned entirely in Australia.
This film made a modest profit of $29,089 according to studio records.
