Marion Davies in Hearts Divided (1936)

Trivia

Hearts Divided

Edit
There is an outtake of actor Claude Rains, dressed as Napoleon, crying out, "God damn!" taken from this film.
The play opened on Broadway, New York City, New York, USA on 7 September 1908 and had only 24 performances. It was based on the marriage of Napoleon's brother to Elizabeth Patterson, but it eventually was annulled by order of Napoleon.
Dick Powell was cast at the request of Marion Davies.
At the time the film was released, Dick Powell was 31 years old and Marion Davies was 39. Whereas, in this highly fictionalized story, the historical figures they are playing were much younger. When they met, Jérôme Bonaparte was 19 and Elizabeth Patterson was 18.
Eighteen minutes were cut from preview version of the film before its release, eliminating several actors listed in studio records and casting call lists. These include (with their character names): Hattie McDaniel (Mammy), Hobart Cavanaugh (Innkeeper), Clinton Rosemond (Black Man) and George Davis (French Sailor).
