Having acquired the controlling interest in the Eureka Discovery Corporation for $500 and selling half of it to a detective for $200, Bob Harvey (Richard Arlen) sets off with his new partner to find the buried treasure of San Capello--with very strange consequences.

An exciting premise falls into dire boredom when the plot should explode with excitement.

Making the mistake of purchasing a mine sight unseen from his boss who is supposedly undergoing a personal crisis, naive Richard Arlen quickly learns that his mistake may be a costly one, in fact $500 in 1936 cash. Heading out to the property where the mine is located, he befriends the pretty Cecilia Parker who helps him locate the area where this sealed off mine supposedly is, containing hidden gold. While this is where the film should become a non-stop combination of action and thrills becomes quickly tiresome, exposing the fact that little thought was put into the premise (previously filmed as a silent), and even with some mysterious characters luring about (as well as some rather unfunny comic relief), this becomes meandering and as cold as the iron door they are searching for. This was a major comedown for silent and early talkie matinee idol Arlen who weaves away through this with all the professional acting talent he can muster, but it is obvious that he is bored with the whole thing.

Set mainly in Arizona, this is a story of searching for a legendary horde of gold. The protagonist attempts to follow the few clues available, such as an arrow carved in a rock. While doing so, he become romantically involved with a young woman who lives in the desert. The makers of this low-budget film failed to generate any excitement, tension, mood, or suspense, and there is no character development. The attempts at humor are very feeble. &quot;Mediocre&quot; would be a good word to describe the directing, editing, and cinematography. I&#39;m pretty sure the novel must be much more enjoyable.
