Kenneth Early (Johnny Mack Brown) has a Texas sheriff post him as a wanted outlaw named Dude Ramsey, so that he can gain the confidence of n outlaw gang in his search for the killer of his brother. He comes to the territory of Mesquite and finds rancher Bert PIerson (Karl Hackett) and saloon owner Link Carson (Warner Richmond) the men behind a raging range war, and also behind a scheme to rob Jean Warner of a rich mining claim discovered by her father, Steve Warner (Frank Ball), murdered by Pierson, and Early's brother, murdered by Carson. Aided by Warner foreman, Buck Andrews (Earle Hodgins), the impostor known as Dude Ramsey, brings the culprits, including rancher Tilden (Frank LaRue), to justice. Ken and Jean plan on getting married, and merge the rich claim left to them by her father and his brother.
