Ivor Novello reprises his lead role from Alfred Hitchcock's silent classic The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927). Hitchcock was asked to direct the sound remake of his 1927 film, but declined.
Under its US title, "The Phantom Fiend," the re-edited US version of this film received its first telecast 3/6//40 on New York City's pioneer, and still experimental television station W2XBS.
