Between the time that production of the film was completed and it was released, screenwriter Lynn Riggs enlisted in the U.S. Army. According to a United Press report dated 16 October 1942, Private Lynn Riggs was an usher at the Fort Ord, California, movie theatre where "Destination Unknown" was showing.

Part of the original Shock Theatre package of 52 Universal titles released to television in 1957, followed a year later with Son of Shock, which added 20 more features.
William Gargan's character is billed as "Briggs Harrison," but he is referred to throughout as Briggs Hannon.
