However, after production kicked off on the new season, with Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie behind the iconic table, the "Attention" singer spoke with Et about why he passed on the opportunity.
Puth recently opened up to Et's Nischelle Turner, getting candid about being in talks with ABC to join the rebooted reality series and explaining why he passed on the opportunity.
"The schedule got too overwhelming," Puth admitted. "It’s nothing to do with [the network]... ABC is wonderful and I told them I would love to be in business with them in the future."...

If you’re going to make a movie about fighters, you can’t skimp on the details. So says Talia Shire, an actress who knows a thing or two about the genre.
“You notice everything,” Shire said during an interview with IndieWire. “I am terribly aware of [everything]. If you’re going to do a fighting movie, I’m looking at the scars.”
Shire noticed just that when she first came across “Kingdom.” Now, the actress who earned Oscar nominations for her two iconic turns in “Rocky” and “The Godfather: Part II,” has joined the cast of the Audience Network original series — with just three episodes remaining.

Life often imitates art, but Alison Brie’s “Glow” story is kind of amazing.
Brie’s character on the new Netflix original series — from creator Liz Flahive (“Nurse Jackie”) and executive producer Jenji Kohan (“Orange is the New Black”) — is an actress whose resiliency is rewarded with the role she needs. But the connection between artist and art is a touch more specific than that.
Ruth spends the first scene of “Glow,” and much of the first episode, auditioning. The first scene is an audition, and she’s quickly rejected. Another audition, another rejection. It’s a pattern in the pilot, and it was a pattern for Brie when she was trying to be a part of it.
“They did not want me to have this part,” Brie said, remembering the long, challenging audition process while sitting next to Flahive and co-star Betty Gilpin (“American Gods”). “I’ve never felt more like Ruth than when I was auditioning for this show.”

The first hurdle: Flahive and casting director Jen Euston were looking for an unknown to play Ruth, the lead in the series, and that meant the former star of “Community” and “Mad Men” wasn’t an option.
“I think we had an idea in our head that [Ruth] was somebody who hadn’t been cast; who you hadn’t seen,” Flahive said, noting they got past it by watching Brie’s auditions. “[Casting] was a combination of seeing people again and again and again, and the other roles where it was just, ‘There’s only one person. This is the person.'”
Brie and Gilpin fell into the former group, as the duo had to come in repeatedly to try out for their parts.
“It felt like a series of tests,” Brie said. “‘But will she come in and do a pre-read for casting?’ And I was like, ‘Absolutely, I’ll wear no makeup.’ ‘Will you fly to Toronto and read with Betty in front of no one?’ ‘Yes, absolutely, whatever you want me to do.'”
In total, Brie and Gilpin went on four auditions — two individually and then two together to test their chemistry. The first step was reading for Euston, and the second was in a “very cold, weird, silent room” with producers. Even when they got the call to come in together, they were filmed “alone in a room with like two casting assistants who were not working on this project,” Brie said.
“[It was] like a stoned 16-year-old who they found on the street to press record,” Flahive said, laughing.

Because of these oddities, each actress developed individual rituals to keep their expectations in check.
“Every audition for Debbie, I thought of it as the last time,” Gilpin said. “I would say goodbye to her every time because I was like, ‘You cannot take this dream all the way in.'”
“I cried in my car after every audition,” Brie said. “I would sit in my car like Ruth and sob. And we were both listening to the same Ultimate ’80s mix while auditioning, so “Flock of Seagulls” was playing [while we were sobbing].”
Their final audition was in Los Angeles “five days before my wedding,” Gilpin said. Flahive said they needed to see the two of them together again because “[Ruth and Debbie] is the relationship of the series,” but it was all more than worth it to the actors because of the script’s unique opportunities.
“I’ve been in this strange sweet spot of making my living as an actor but not doing crazy big shows like this,” Gilpin said. “I’ve auditioned for a lot of what’s out there, which is like squinty cop in tight outfits who aren’t taking any shit in the first scene and in the second scene they’re naked and blowing the captain of the police force. And I tried really hard to get those parts because I want my future children to go to school and have appetizers at dinners.”
“So when this came along I was just shaking reading it because I hadn’t really allowed myself to dream of a part like this,” she said.
Brie agreed, taking it one step further. “It was amazing to get the opportunity to prove myself the way that Ruth also does,” she said of the audition process. “But I also had this dream criteria in my head where I was ready to sign off on certain shows that checked like two of the six boxes, and I was like ‘Two whole boxes!’ And then ‘Glow’ came in, and it really did check every box.”
“It was indescribable when I first read it, in the same way that Betty described: the fear and excitement at reading it and being like, ‘Oh my God. This is the thing!'”
But even now, with the season wrapped and rolling out on Netflix and plenty of prestige TV in their past, these actors are still nervous for the next audition.
Do you feel like there’s been a tipping point? Was there a moment where you thought, “Ok, I’ve got this. I feel like I’ve broken through?”
Gilpin: Absolutely not, no.
I hope you feel that way now.
Gilpin: I don’t!
Soon, though, maybe?
Brie: We never do.
Gilpin: But there is a feeling on set, in every department on “Glow” that everyone has sort of paid their dues and gritted their teeth through certain jobs to get to this one.
Brie: To be rewarded with this.
Gilpin: That this is the passion project.
If art does imitate life, may this piece last as long as Brie, Gilpin, and Flahive care to live in it.
“Glow” premieres Friday, June 23 on Netflix.

Where Shia Labeouf goes, trouble follows. According to TMZ, the 30-year-old movie star was kicked out of a bowling alley Wednesday night after yelling at a staffer, calling him a "f--king racist." Labeouf was at Pinz in Studio City for three hours, where an eyewitness claims he was "pounding back beers." TMZ also reports the actor "got rowdy and started getting into a verbal altercation when the staff told him to leave." Pinz declined to comment when contacted by E! News Thursday. A fellow bowler recorded a video of Labeouf yelling at the staff member over French fries. "You f--king racist bitch. Don't talk to me!" he screamed. "You f--ked up!" Another video showed...

The show was recently picked up for a 10 episode second season. Velazquez's other credits include Sophia on Fxx's The League, Catalina on NBC's My Name is Earl and Emma Rios on TNT's Major Crimes.
She's also starred in films opposite Denzel Washington (Flight) and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (Snitch).
We had an opportunity to speak with Nadine about her role as Jackie, women's issues and her upcoming charity project, the Total Beauty Project.
If you haven't yet seen the show (what are you waiting for?!), you'll know that Jackie, like the rest of the Seal wives, is a strong, family-oriented woman who doesn't tolerate much of anything from her husband, Buddha.
It's one of the things that attracted Velazquez to the role.

Maverick director Abel Ferrara talks to us about his career in movies, from Driller Killer to Bad Lieutenant and Body Snatchers...
When British distributor Vipco put out full-age ads depicting a particularly bloody scene from Driller Killer, the movie became an unwitting part of the 'video nasty' moral flap of the early 80s. Suddenly, director Abel Ferrara's low-budget, quick-and-dirty horror-arthouse-drama about a young artist going crazy in Manhattan was lumped in with such films as Cannibal Holocaust, Last House On The Left and the tawdry SS Experiment Camp.

Well, it’s official, Stranger Things’ second season will be upon us in 2017. So, I thought of some things I’d like to see for next season. Spoiler alert, I’m going to pretend like if you clicked this you’ve already watched the first season. Now then, let’s get into it.
1. Will becomes a monster. I don’t expect for the season to start with Will snacking on unsuspecting teenagers, but we all saw what he coughed up. He’s no longer of this dimension and when the time to kill him comes, I hope the group is up for it. We know who can’t be there: Joyce. When the world said “your son is dead”, she wouldn’t hear it. Try telling her your son is a monster.
There was no way he was going to be normal after they found him like this.
2. Would Dr.

After weeks of feeling bullied by Bethenny Frankel and Carole Radziwill, Jules Wainstein finally stood up to them on Wednesday's Real Housewives of New York City. And in her anxiety about explaining her feelings, she admitted she's still struggling with her eating disorder.
"I live on the fine line of an eating disorder," Wainstein told the ladies through tears at a dinner thrown by Dorinda Medley. "In one second, I have a bad day and I have my slips all the time. Three days ago, I threw up my food. I'm not going to lie – it's my life."
"Bulimia, it's with you forever.

If you haven’t been eagerly awaiting this Sunday, you should be. Those with HBO streaming services had the opportunity for the past couple of weeks to watch episode one of The Night Before, titled The Beach. And, based on every reaction in conversation, this could be the sleeper hit of the summer. HBO makes the bold claim that they are not television. Well, with productions like The Night Of, HBO makes a hard argument.
The Beach introduces us to Nasir Khan (Riz Ahmed), a Pakistani-American who goes by Nas to his friends. Nas is a straight-laced college student who is “on the coaching side” of the school basketball team. Right away we like him. He’s just a kid that wants to go to a party. Have you ever been invited to party with the basketball team? Well, Nas knows this party won’t be one to miss. So,...

Charlie Puth continues to mourn the death of his friend Christina Grimmie. The singer, 24, took a moment during his concert in New York on Saturday to talk about his loss. "I was reading the news last night and heard that my good friend Christina Grimmie was killed, and I want to dedicate this song to her tonight," Puth said to concertgoers. "I've been upset about this all day, mainly because I just never got to say what I wanted to say to her, and I feel like this song perfectly captures that." Puth then performed a stripped-down version of his hit song "See You Again,...

Lorelai and Rory may be one of the greatest mother-daughter television pairs of all time, but let's face it: Lorelai wasn't always the perfect parent.
And as Rory's off-screen counterpart, Alexis Bledel, settles into parenthood herself, she may turn to Gilmore Girls for parenting advice from time to time.
And while that's all well and good, we'd advise Not to model her entire mothering strategy off of Lorelai.
For starters, here are a few Lorelai Gilmore parental tendencies that Bledel should try to avoid.
1. Don't let your child live off a diet solely made up of burgers, Chinese food, pizza and coffee.

Save Sassenach! George Clooney and Julia Roberts are the main stars of director Jodie Foster's new hostage thriller "Money Monster," but this exclusive clip puts "Outlander" star Caitriona Balfe in the line of fire ... or at least her face on a screen is in danger.
The financial crisis story plays out in real-time, and this clip shows a scene where an angry investor named Kyle (Jack O'Connell) has already taken over the TV studio where "Money Monster" host Lee Gates (George Clooney) and his producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) were filming a show. We see a piece of the tense standoff, which is also airing live to millions of viewers. Balfe plays Diane Lester, head of PR for a company whose stock has bottomed. Apparently she says the wrong thing to Kyle, 'cause he shoots the monitor while she's speaking. Then Diane, clearly shaken, says the wrong thing again,...

Last week, Anthony Mackie dropped a bit of a bombshell on Radio 1's "Movies with Ali Plumb" when he mentioned a certain character being involved in Marvel's upcoming film Captain America: Civil War.
I'll throw this out now, if you don't want to be spoiled on Civil War, you probably shouldn't keep reading.

So as we mentioned last week, Anthony Mackie outed Mark Ruffalo's involvement in the film when he said the following.
"Winter Soldier and [the first] Iron Man are probably Marvel’s two best movies, and I feel like [Civil War] beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. It’s because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie. I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good Acting.

Thanks to his hook on Furious 7's Paul Walker tribute song "See You Again," Charlie Puth is behind one of the biggest and most beloved songs of the year - but that wasn't originally the plan. "It's interesting: I mean, I didn't even think that I was going to sing it!" Puth, 24, says in the new issue of People, on newsstands Friday. The rising star cowrote the track for the Furious soundtrack, and that was supposed to be the extent of his involvement ... at least at first. "I [recorded the track] as a reference vocal for Sam Smith to potentially sing," he adds.

This audiovideo essay collaboration on Jacques Rivette's Out 1 is the fifth entry in the Out 1 Video Essay Project. Special thanks to Michelle Carey.***Our mission, as we chose to accept it, consisted of a game of exchange between strangers. Each was to give the other a video lettre which would then be returned in sequence, the final structure of the work a literal replication of this back-and-forth dialectic. In order to facilitate a wider dialogue, each letter was to be about a minute long, and constructed mostly through images and sounds from Rivette’s Out 1: noli me tangere. I had never attempted something like this before, nor had I seen Rivette’s mammoth film. During a first viewing, I came to the realization that few movies could offer so many possibilities for an exchange of this nature, with so much potential freedom…and madness. For my first video letter,...

Pat Mills, who directed of Tiff'14 critically acclaimed "Guidance," did have the intention to hire Nicole Arbour to play a cheerleader in his upcoming film dealing with overweight teen empowerment: "Don't Talk to Irene.
This week Arbour was at the center of media storm after her YouTube video, "Dear Fat People," exploded online and exposed her views on overweight individuals.
After watching Nicole's video, here is Pat Mills statement:
My name is Pat Mills. I am a Toronto-based filmmaker in pre-production on my second feature film. It's a body-positive teen dance movie set in a retirement home. It's about a sixteen year old girl who dreams of being a cheerleader, but she is constantly bullied for being fat. She learns that she doesn't have to change anything about herself to be awesome because she already is. The title is "Don't Talk to Irene." We are scheduled to shoot next month.
I've been developing the script for several years. I am excited to shoot this - and the message is important to me. I'm gay. I was bullied a lot as a kid. I wore purple jogging pants every day during the seventh grade - you can imagine what that did to my social life. I am no stranger to ridicule and loneliness. It's made me a sensitive storyteller, but it also developed my sense of humour. And now I make comedy movies set in high school. I guess I never got over high school. Every filmmaker has an obsession, right?
"Don't Talk to Irene" is a dance movie, so obviously we needed a choreographer. We met with a woman who not only did traditional dance choreography, but was a cheerleader as well. She was fun and nice and had a lot of energy. She even had a YouTube channel and identified as a "youtuber". She seemed like a perfect fit for the project. I shared the script with her. She said she dug it and was excited to come on board. I was supposed to get together with her this week for what she called a "choreo party" to watch my favourite dance scenes and talk ideas. And then a crazy thing happened on Saturday - I saw something on the internet that made me never want to see her again. Her name is Nicole Arbour.
I was randomly checking Facebook and a comment on a video popped up. The video is called "Dear Fat People" - it's an unfunny and cruel fat-shaming video that guises itself about being about "health." It's fat phobic and awful. It went on for over for six minutes. I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I was so upset I was shaking like Shelley DuVall in the "The Shining."
Bullies like Nicole Arbour are the reason I am making this movie. I'm tired of body shaming. It's everywhere. This nice choreographer I met turned out to be the reason I wrote this movie. Her video added an offensive twist to the development of this film. I was shocked.
It's very odd that we live in a world now where people post their opinions on YouTube (to get views), but they cannot say these opinions to our faces. My film celebrates being different. It celebrates not fitting in. I want to arm teen girls of all sizes with confidence. People like Nicole Arbour strip this confidence away. She knew what my movie was about. Why couldn't she express these opinions to my face? I guess talking the old fashioned way won't get you internet-famous.
I've learned that the people who shame fat people hiding under an excuse that it's about their "health" are the same people who ridicule them when they see them working out at the gym.
Nicole: Did you even read my script? It is a body positive teen movie. It has a message that is in direct opposition to your cruel and lame YouTube rant.
On behalf of all of us who have been bullied and have a taste for comedy that doesn't make people feel shitty about themselves, "Fat shaming" is very much a thing. It's just as real as not getting a job because of your hateful opinions that you call "comedy." We will not be working together.

Stephen Colbert made his "Late Show" debut on Tuesday night one impressive first guest: George Clooney! To kick things off, the CBS host welcomed the "Tomorrowland" actor by gifting the 54-year-old a Tiffany box as a belated wedding gift. While Colbert is about a year late -- the actor tied the knot with Amal Alamuddin last September -- George did show his appreciation for the thoughtful gesture. "Wow, it's really a Tiffany thing," he said of the iconic blue box. "It's engraved, it says, 'I don't know you', and I believe it's a paper weight." "That's just to remind you that we don't know each other, but I was very grateful that you came on." Colbert admitted. "I don't want to do that celebrity thing where we pretend we know each other and you can pass that on to another celebrity who you don't know but have to pretend that you do know them.

It doesn't look like Celebrity Big Brother's Janice Dickinson is anyone's best friend right now.
The former supermodel is still riling up her fellow housemates, who are annoyed by her continued lack of effort in the current task.

Janice soon snaps at Jenna Jameson to wash a bowl, before ranting in the Diary Room: "I think Farrah is full of shit... and I think that Jenna really doesn't know her place."
Daniel Baldwin is another housemate to become agitated at Janice, as she eats a bowl of fruit.

Janice and Jenna have yet another argument later, with a frustrated Jenna fuming:...
