The film was started in 1943 under the direction of
Marcello Pagliero. Filming was interrupted due to the war and was restarted after the end of hostilities under the direction of 'Alberto d'Aversa'. It was completed in 1945 and released in most Italian cities in 1946. However, newly-found sources indicated that the film was first presented to the public, albeit very briefly, in December 1945.
