Featured review
Just watched this film without understanding the slightest - the DVD didn't have subtitles. There seems to be some kind of intrigue which I missed, but that didn't divert my attention. A nifty little musical, where the heroine pretends to be a Siamese beauty, performing in a nightclub. In fact, she is as Hungarian as can be. Zita Szeletczky is quite pretty, even though the pseudo-oriental songs sound a bit strange as she sings them. I wonder what happened to her, since she doesn't seem to have made a single film after 1944.
The action takes place either in a nightclub or in a fashion house Pompadour, so there's a bevy of pretty girls and costumes, a nifty musical fashion show and probably the most outrageous hat ever seen on celluloid.
