According to the American Film Institute Catalog of Feature Films, the musical numbers featuring Eleanor Powell, Virginia O'Brien with Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra, and The King Sisters were numbers shot, but not used, for the 1942 M-G-M picture Ship Ahoy (1942).
This is the first (and only) feature film appearance for MGM's long-time recording director Douglas Shearer, brother of Norma Shearer. This is also the only feature film appearance of MGM's long-time art director Cedric Gibbons.
According to the American Film Institute's catalog entry for this film, it contains the majority of footage from three MGM shorts: Musical Masterpieces (1946), Our Old Car (1946), and Badminton (1945).
Much of the movie consisted of cutting room floor footage and sequences from other films. For example, Eleanor Powell's dance number is an outtake from her film Broadway Melody of 1938 (1937).
