The cartoon version of Bette Davis that is seen entering the Warmer Brothers studio lot talking to herself says "So, you say I'm mean to you. You say I'm mad, cruel, domineering. Well, you're right. I'm all this - and heaven too". All This, and Heaven Too (1940) was a big Bette Davis blockbuster from 6 years earlier.
While trying to enter the studio, Daffy impersonates Charles Chaplin, Jimmy Durante, Bing Crosby, and finally the Academy Award Oscar statuette.
Celebrity caricatures include Bette Davis, Johnny Weissmuller, Ann Sheridan, Jimmy Durante and Jack Benny. In addition, the studio guard has a voice resembling Joe Besser.
References are made to many Warner Bros. stars of the day, including Lauren Bacall, Ann Sheridan, Errol Flynn, Alexis Smith, and even studio head Jack L. Warner. Other stars mentioned include Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Hedy Lamarr, Dorothy Lamour, and Fanny Brice ("Baby Snooks").
Jack Benny laments his lack of a personal Oscar, which was a running gag on his radio (and later television) show. Mel Blanc, who was a regular on Benny's program, voices an imitation of his boss.
