The eighth of nine "Torchy Blane" films from Warner Brothers made from 1937-39.
Last film in the series for Glenda Farrell, Barton MacLane and George Guhl. For the final entry, "Torchy Blane...Playing With Dynamite," the former two were replaced by Jane Wyman and Allen Jenkins, while Guhl's desk sergeant simply didn't appear. The other series regulars, Tom Kennedy, Frank Shannon and Joe Cunningham, did remain.
This film's earliest documented telecasts took place in Tucson Sunday 2 September 1956 on KDWI (Channel 9) and in Albuquerque Thursday 29 November 1956 on KOAT (Channel 7); it first aired in Honolulu Friday 5 July 1957 on KHVH (Channel 13), in Indianapolis Wednesday 24 July 1957 on WISH (Channel 6), and in Pittsburgh Tuesday 10 December 1957 on KDKA (Channel 2), and again in Albuquerque Saturday 15 December 1956 on KOB (Channel 4).
Two cast members in studio records/casting call lists did not appear or were not identifiable in the movie. These were (with their character names): Larry Williams (Reporter) and Jack Mower (Duncan).
