The biopic Frances (1982), in which Jessica Lange portrays Frances Farmer, depicts the makers of this film teaching Farmer a lesson by forcing her to do over a dozen takes of a scene in which her character falls into a pile of mud.
The convertible Frances Farmer drives is a 1936 Chevrolet Standard. Only 3,629 were made at a base price of $595 ($12,500 in 2022). In excellent condition, an example of this car could be worth $36,000 or more in 2022.
John Garfield lobbied to have Frances Farmer as his co-star. Farmer later admitted the two were having an affair during the making of this film.
