When the radio series first premiered in 1936, Kato was Japanese, but by 1939 when the serials were shot, he was referred to as Korean. From 1941 to 1945, he became Filipino on the radio series.
From the original 1940 Universal press book message to theatrical exhibitors: "IMPORTANT! Unless special permission is secured from the King-Trendle Broadcasting Corporation, Stroh Bldg., Detroit, Michigan, exhibitors do not have the right to impersonate "The Green Hornet" through use of costumed bally-man or actor.
The background music often uses Schubert's Unfinished Symphony (as it is in the Smurfs). It also frequently employs Mendelssohn's incidental music from A Midsummer's Night Dream. As the Green Hornet and Kato prepare for a mission, the music quotes the opening bars of Dukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice.
