In the opening scene at the carnival, the carnival barker at the Freak Show is the actor Joe Yule. He is the father of Mickey Rooney.
When Maisie bursts into Bob's room to find him playing with a toy airplane, he is holding a model of a real, famous aircraft - a Keith Rider R-3, registration NR14215. It was a one-off racing plane built in 1934. The model he is holding can be seen in the MGM film Test Pilot (1938).
